Ongoing, full time opportunity

Grade 11/12 - $154,231 - $178,369 p.a. + superannuation and annual leave loading

This recruitment is to fill this specific role, and no Talent Pool will be created.

Your role

Provide leadership, direction and support to a team/s of professional and administrative staff within a Community Service Centre (CSC). Manage all aspects of the CSC’s operations and build a collaborative team environment to deliver quality services and achieve positive outcomes for the community’s children, young people and families.

This role involves working closely with Aboriginal communities and leading a significant Aboriginal workforce. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong cultural capability, a commitment to culturally safe practice, and an ability to build and maintain respectful relationships with Aboriginal people, communities, and stakeholders

What You’ll Do

  • Provide leadership and management of all operational aspects of the CSC including human resources, finance, office administration, and monitoring and reporting on the CSC’s performance to ensure delivery of quality services within budget.
  • Responsible for the delivery of the DCJ’s core functions and services to vulnerable children, young people and their families.
  • Establish collaborative relationships with community partners and NGOs to integrate service provision at a local level and enhance the design and viability of the service system
  • Lead implementation of agreed changes at the front line that aligns operational activities with the corporate and strategic direction of DCJ.
  • Develop effective strategies and show decisiveness in dealing with emotionally charged situations, difficult and controversial issues.
  • Build and monitor a workplace culture that values fair and inclusive practices and diversity principles.
  • Develop unit plans that consider team capability, strengths and opportunities for development including a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Address and resolve team and individual performance issues, including unsatisfactory performance in a timely and effective way.

What We’re Looking For

  • Tertiary qualification in a social work, social/Behavioural Science, Welfare or related discipline and/or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • To support strong community engagement and operational requirements, applicants should currently reside within the district or relocate to the district prior to commencing employment.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Travel required as part of the role to local offices aligned to the management responsibility area including Broken Hill, Dareton and Wilcannia. Other travel across the broader South West NSW region will also occur as required.

Appointments are subject to reference checks and the following pre-employment checks:

  • National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014.
  • Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012.
