Your Impact
Establish and coordinate technical expertise teams and work required to achieve the site objectives and ongoing sustainability of the site activities.
As part of our team you will
- Lead the operation in safety by demonstrating visible safety leadership, managing critical risks, and fostering a culture where safety is a shared responsibility.
- Lead Mine Technical Services, including Mine Planning, Geology, Geotechnical, Survey, and Water Management, ensuring alignment with operational and business objectives.
- Develop and integrate short and medium term mine plans that optimize production, resource recovery, and sustainable asset value.
- Govern technical service delivery to ensure compliance with mine plans, designs, regulatory requirements, and company standards, while driving operational accountability and continuous improvement.
- Provide oversight of geotechnical engineering, slope stability, ground control, and monitoring programs, ensuring geotechnical risks are effectively managed and incorporated into operational decisions.
- Lead site-wide water management, including water balance planning, groundwater management, water consumption optimization, and development of future water supply sources and infrastructure.
- Drive technical excellence by identifying and resolving operational constraints through data analysis, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner with Mining, Processing, Maintenance, and Sustaining Capital teams to align technical plans with operational needs, business priorities, and infrastructure requirements.
- Collaborate with project study and strategic mine planning team to evaluate mine plans, economic opportunities, and strategic options, while supporting infrastructure relocation and pre-stripping readiness for future mining areas.
- Interface with Business Unit and Corporate Technical teams to implement enterprise standards, technical initiatives, and governance frameworks.
- Monitor, analyze, and report technical performance, production forecasts, plan compliance, risks, and key business indicators to support informed decision-making and accountability.
- Develop and lead a high-performing technical team through coaching, succession planning, talent development, and performance management.
- Act as a role model and mentor, promoting technical excellence, safety leadership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Contribute as a member of the Site Leadership Team, providing leadership for the technical portfolio and supporting overall site strategy, culture, performance, and value creation.
Prerequisites for your success in this role
A bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related Mining discipline. Advanced degrees (e.g., Master’s or PhD) may be preferred. Several years of experience in operational leadership roles, with a progression through roles of increasing responsibility.
Advanced experience in leading and developing teams. Advanced ability to interact, influence, and resolve conflict with various stakeholders, including employees, contractors, regulators, and the community.
Advanced understanding of Geological, Geotechnical, and Planning. Advanced strategic thinking with the ability to align technical services with the strategic vision and objectives of the site.
Advanced knowledge of key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics in Geological, Geotechnical and Planning areas.
Advanced skills in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with Technical Services. Competent understanding of the latest technologies and innovations across Geological, Geotechnical and Planning areas. Advanced knowledge of health, safety, environment, and sustainability regulations and practices. Competent understanding of cost management and financial principles in mining.
Advanced English and spanish is a must.

Where you will be located!
The position is located at the Peñasquito Mine in Mazapil, Zacatecas, Mexico. The mine operates in a remote, semi-desert environment.
Accommodation: Provided in a comfortable camp setting adjacent to the workplace.
Roster: You will work a rotational schedule of 4 days on-site/3 days off, alternating with 5 days on-site/2 days off.
Mobility: This is a permanent, Mexico-based position. This role requires relocation to Mexico (expatriate terms offered).
Domestic and international travel will be required periodically.
