You will provide engineering oversight across fixed plant systems, mobile asset interfaces, and structural components. This position reports directly to the Superintendent Engineering and plays a vital role in maintaining operational excellence and safety standards.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the engineering response to mechanical backlog and degradation across fixed plant and site infrastructure, ensuring technical issues are addressed with a long-term, sustainable approach.
  • Provide expert technical support to maintenance execution teams, ensuring all work is properly engineered, risk-assessed, and aligned with operational and safety standards.
  • Develop and review detailed repair scopes, technical drawings, material specifications, and supplier submissions to ensure quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Take ownership of mechanical engineering governance, including oversight of registers, compliance reviews, and engineering documentation standards.
  • Contribute to asset management and reliability strategies by assessing equipment condition, performance, and failure modes through sound engineering principles.
  • Provide supervision and technical guidance to early-career engineers on site, ensuring all work is delivered safely, competently, and in alignment with Coronado’s Code of Conduct and CARE values.

What You’ll Bring

  • A formal qualification in Mechanical Engineering, along with a high level of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance and engineering.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to develop and implement effective technical solutions.
  • The ability to engage and influence peers and stakeholders to deliver outcomes across diverse teams.
  • A sound understanding of safety, risk, and communication principles relevant to operational environments.
  • Competence in using engineering systems, documentation, and tools to support maintenance and project outcomes.
