We made history and now we work to transform the future – for our customers, our communities and our families. You'll see your work on the road every day, helping people move freely and pursue their dreams. At Ford, you can build more than vehicles. Come build what matters.

As part of our Manufacturing team, you’ll help build the world-class, state-of-the-art smart vehicles we're known for. In our plants around the world, we’re constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. You'll get the satisfaction of making great products people use and love.

In this position...

The Powertrain Manufacturing Engineering organization plans and implements new powertrain programs at component plants. In this role, you will support the development and launch of machining processes for engine cylinder blocks and cylinder heads at Ford manufacturing facilities.

You will work with Product Development, Purchasing, equipment and tooling suppliers, plant teams, and program organizations to translate product requirements into capable, production-ready machining processes. The position provides the opportunity to influence product and process decisions early in the program and support the launch of technologies that enable Ford’s current and future propulsion products.

This role requires strong knowledge of machining process development, project management, problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration. Travel to supplier and plant locations, including extended assignments, may be required during equipment build, installation, commissioning, and launch activities.

What you'll do...

  • Develop and optimize high-volume machining processes for cylinder blocks and cylinder heads.
  • Evaluate product designs for manufacturability, process capability, tooling, and production feasibility.
  • Partner with Product Development to improve quality, labor efficiency, tooling cost, and facility requirements.
  • Develop and maintain process sheets, cycle information, equipment specifications, and line layouts.
  • Define requirements for fixtures, cutting tools, gauges, automation, inspection, material handling, and error-proofing.
  • Manage schedules for equipment and tooling design, procurement, build, installation, and launch.
  • Evaluate supplier bids and support equipment and tooling procurement.
  • Lead supplier buyoffs, equipment installation, start-up, commissioning, run-at-rate, and production readiness.
  • Identify and resolve machining, product, tooling, quality, and launch issues.
  • Apply PFMEA, failure-mode avoidance, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and error-proofing methods.
  • Support process validation, capability studies, control plans, quality improvements, and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate dimensional, functional, and leak-test requirements.
  • Document lessons learned and implement preventive actions for future programs.
  • Communicate project status, timing, cost, quality, risks, and launch readiness to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Product Development, suppliers, Purchasing, Logistics, New Model Programs, and plant teams.
  • Regular daily travel to our Windsor Engine Plant (Windsor, ON)

You'll have...

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical preferred) and/or equivalent years' experience (5+)
  • Knowledge of high-volume machining processes, preferably for cylinder blocks and cylinder heads.
  • Understanding of machining operations, cutting tools, fixtures, gauging, and process capability.
  • Ability to evaluate product designs for manufacturability and production feasibility.
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under timing constraints.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and 3D CAD review tools such as Teamcenter, VisMockup, or CATIA.
  • Knowledge of PFMEA, failure-mode avoidance, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma.
  • Willingness to travel, including extended assignments.

Even better, you may have...

  • Experience in automotive manufacturing, engine component manufacturing, or cylinder block and cylinder head machining.
  • Experience with milling, drilling, boring, tapping, honing, washing, deburring, leak testing, or inspection processes.
  • Experience with machining equipment, fixtures, cutting tools, automation, gauging, CMMs, or error-proofing.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, statistical process control, capability studies, and control charts.
  • Familiarity with Ford manufacturing systems, including AVBOM, WERS, GSPAS/APT, Teamcenter, E2KS, AIM, and CPARS.
