Title: Founding Mobile Engineer (React Native)

Duration: Full Time/Direct Hire

Location: Hybrid — Palo Alto, CA (119 University Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94301). Relocation assistance available; remote may be considered for exceptional candidates.

Comp range: Up to base $400K + Equity + Annual Bonus

Required:

1. 5 - 16 years of experience as a Founding Mobile Engineer, Founding Engineer, Founding Full-Stack Engineer, or Senior Full-Stack Engineer
2. Experience shipping high-quality production mobile applications currently live in the App Store
3. Strong understanding of mobile architecture, navigation patterns, state management, and platform-specific considerations
4. Experience with distributed systems
5. Experience integrating with external APIs and building real-time, data-intensive features

Nice To Have:

1. Early-stage startup experience with zero-to-one building or ownership (Founding Engineer, Founding Mobile Engineer, Senior Fullstack Engineer)
2. Experience in social media platforms, e-commerce systems, or commerce infrastructure

• Recent large-company mobile experience without startup exposure in the past 4 years

What we're looking for:

We are looking for a Founding Mobile Engineer (React Native) with 5+ years of experience to build clients Social's mobile app from zero to one as we get close to launch. You'll be our first dedicated mobile engineer, so you'll make the foundational decisions for how our AI-native social commerce platform reaches brand teams on iOS and Android. We want someone with deep React Native expertise who has shipped polished, live apps that serve many users. You should take initiative and be comfortable owning work across the stack, not just the front end. This is a time-sensitive, high-impact role at a fast-moving, Series A–backed startup founded by ex-Meta leaders.

What will you be doing?

• Own the mobile platform end to end: architect, build, and launch the client's React Native app on iOS and Android
• Set the groundwork for mobile architecture, shared components, testing, CI/CD, and performance standards as we build out a mobile team
• Build AI-powered, real-time experiences backed by distributed systems that handle more than 10M conversations per week, and work across the stack when needed
• Integrate with social platform APIs (TikTok, Meta, Instagram) and commerce systems like Shopify
• Work closely with product, design, and the founders to shape what gets built and set a high bar for reliability
