Nurse Pathway — Grow to Registered Nurse in the Netherlands
Location: Netherlands: Hemmsker, Beverwijk, Alkmaar
Sector: Elderly Care | Contract: Full-time, 36 hours/week
Ready for a fresh start abroad? For our client, we're looking for caring, motivated nurses to join elderly care homes in the Netherlands.
Relocate to the Netherlands and build a long-term nursing career — with a healthy work-life balance. This role offers a structured pathway for EU-qualified nurses: you start in a paid, supervised care position while completing a fully funded Dutch language programme and progressing through the steps toward BIG registration. Once you've obtained BIG registration and reached the required language level, you'll transition into a Registered Nurse role.
About the Role
You'll support residents across daily living assistance and nursing care, working as part of a multidisciplinary team, on a full-time basis of 36 hours per week. Your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting residents with washing, dressing, toileting, mobility, and meals
- Assisting with daily activities and complex personal care, always promoting dignity and comfort
- Administering medication in line with local protocols and your authorisations
- Observing residents' wellbeing, noticing changes, and escalating concerns appropriately
- Performing nursing tasks of increasing complexity as you progress through the pathway
- Contributing to care coordination and keeping care plans accurate and up to date
- Taking ownership of quality and safety in day-to-day care delivery
- Communicating with doctors, other healthcare professionals, and residents' families
- Supporting and coaching colleagues, and contributing to a positive team culture
- Helping maintain a clean, safe, and supportive living environment for residents
Your exact responsibilities will be aligned with your current authorisations, Dutch language progress, and registration status — details will be agreed during recruitment and onboarding.
What We're Looking For
- EU-qualified nurse
- Open-minded and willing to adapt to Dutch work culture
- Proactive, with a willingness to take initiative
- Good communication skills
- A team player who works well across all care levels
- Empathetic, patient, and respectful with vulnerable residents
- Willing to keep learning — both language and healthcare skills
What We Offer
- Contract: Full-time, 36 hours/week, with a healthy work-life balance
- Including allowances and benefits, the estimated net monthly salary is approximately EUR 3,000.
- Fully funded Dutch language course
- Clear path to BIG registration
- Relocation support for up to 18 months
- Housing support for up to 18 months
- Shift irregularity allowance
- Holiday allowance
- Year-end bonus (13th month)
- 30 days paid holiday per year
Full support throughout your relocation and integration, including:
- Accommodation arranged prior to arrival
- Support with the BIG registration process (a mandatory professional licence confirming you meet education and competency standards to perform specific medical tasks in Dutch healthcare)
- Transportation support
- A dedicated personal coach and workplace buddy for your first 18 months
- Online webinars and in-person training days in Amsterdam
- Monthly coach visits to the workplace to review your progress together with your buddy
