The Team
The Northern Cancer Service provides comprehensive cancer care across North and North West Tasmania; delivering high-quality, patient-centred services through a multidisciplinary model of care.
Our service provides day oncology services at the WP Holman Clinic Launceston, the North West Cancer Centre Burnie and at the Mersey Community Hospital, in addition to radiation therapy services at Launceston & Burnie. We are committed to excellence in clinical care, innovation, safety, research, education and continuous improvement, ensuring patients can access high-quality cancer care closer to home.

The Role
This is a significant senior nursing leadership opportunity within Tasmania's public health system.
As Nursing Director, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for nursing, administrative and support service staff across the Northern Cancer Service. Working closely with the Clinical Director and Manager/ Chief Radiation Therapist of the Northern Cancer Service and key stakeholders, you will lead service delivery, workforce planning, quality and safety initiatives, clinical governance, and service development activities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and managing nursing, administrative and support services across multiple sites.
- Driving excellence in patient-centred cancer care.
- Providing strategic leadership in quality, safety, research and education.
- Managing human, financial and physical resources to achieve service objectives.
- Leading workforce development, performance management and succession planning.
- Championing innovation, service redesign and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Supporting the delivery of safe, effective and sustainable cancer services for the Tasmanian community

Details of appointment
Permanent full time, day worker (with on call) position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
The location is in Launceston with an expectation to work across Northern Cancer Service sites as required.

Salary
$142,632 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
Access to the Grade 4 salary range $102,439- $109,175 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Eligibility
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
- Holds or is working towards relevant postgraduate qualifications in relevant fields or qualifications that are deemed equivalent
- Current Driver’s Licence
