Occupational Therapist (IHAT) | 11354 | permanent contract | 37 hours per week | £38,510 to £43,149 per annum | (Grade I/J) | Norwich

We offer a £2000 welcome payment for qualified and experienced Occupational Therapists (grade J and above), new to Norfolk County Council. Amount to be repaid in full should you leave within two years of employment.

Integrated Housing Adaptation Team (IHAT), based at Norwich City Council.

We are looking to recruit a full-time Occupational Therapist to join the Integrated Housing Adaptation Team for Norwich City Council. Norfolk has seven local housing authorities (a role held by the district councils) who are responsible for administering Disabled Facilities Grants. In partnership with Adult Social Services, they also liaise with Registered Social Landlords and private landlords to ensure that adaptations can be delivered.

You will be based at City Hall for a minimum of two days per week and also work from home.

Norfolk has co-located Integrated Housing Adaptation Teams (IHATs). These teams bring together housing and social care to form district-based teams. The Social Care Occupational Therapist role in the IHAT Team is to carry out assessments of mobility and function for adults and some children who may be eligible for a Disabled Facilities Grant to determine if an adaptation to their home is necessary and appropriate. The OT works closely with their district council IHAT colleagues to ensure that their recommended adaptation is completed and the identified outcomes of maximising safety and independence in their home are achieved.

We are looking for an Occupational Therapist ideally with some experience in housing and adaptations. Knowledge of the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 and other supporting guidance is desirable. However, there is a highly experienced Occupational Therapist and 2 Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioners in the team who will be able to provide training and support to the successful applicant.

If you are a newly qualified OT or new to working in Social Care you may be eligible for our Occupational Therapy Preceptorship programme which is a dedicated programme in place to help to support you to learn and develop your skills as an OT in Social Care in a supported and protected environment. The preceptorship programme is an 18 month-long programme of support, development and assessment where you will be assigned an Occupational Therapy mentor who is a qualified, registered and experienced Occupational Therapist to support and monitor your progress.
