The Operations Coordinator - Data Center Power Generation is responsible for coordinating the real-time operational readiness of - power generation assets to ensure reliable support of data center electrical demand. This position develops and maintains short-term load forecasts, coordinates generation planning and dispatch activities, manages fuel nomination requirements, and partners with generation service providers to ensure generation capacity is available when required.
The role serves as the operational focal point between Data Center Operations, Generation Operations, Engineering, Environmental Compliance, and external service providers to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operation of onsite generation assets. The Real-Time Operations Coordinator executes Conduct of Operations principles by driving operational discipline, communication, planning, and procedural compliance across all stakeholders.
Reporting to the Director of Turbine Operations, this position plays a critical role in maintaining generation readiness and supporting uninterrupted data center operations.
Responsibilities
Operations & Generation Coordination
- Serve as the primary Real-Time Operations Coordinator for assigned data center generation assets.
- Coordinate daily operational activities to ensure generation resources are available to meet forecasted electrical demand.
- Monitor system operating conditions and coordinate generation dispatch activities with internal stakeholders and generation service providers.
- Support real-time operational decision-making to maintain generation reliability and system readiness.
- Coordinate operational responses during changing load conditions and generation events.
Load Forecasting & Generation Planning
- Develop and maintain rolling 14-day electrical load forecasts for assigned sites.
- Analyze historical trends, operational activities, weather impacts, and business forecasts to improve forecast accuracy.
- Coordinate forecast updates with Operations, Engineering, Capacity Planning, and other stakeholders.
- Validate day-ahead forecasts and perform real-time adjustments as operating conditions change.
- Reconcile forecast performance and continuously improve forecasting methodologies.
Fuel Planning & Gas Nominations
- Develop daily and forward natural gas nomination requirements based on forecasted generation demand.
- Coordinate gas nominations with fuel suppliers and generation service providers.
- Monitor fuel availability and coordinate adjustments to support changing operational conditions.
- Perform day-ahead and real-time true-up activities to optimize fuel utilization and generation readiness.
Generation Provider Coordination
- Partner with generation operations providers to ensure generation assets are maintained in an operationally ready state.
- Coordinate planned outages, maintenance activities, and operational constraints.
- Ensure generation dispatch aligns with operational requirements and forecasted demand.
- Facilitate daily operational communications with service providers.
Environmental & Regulatory Compliance
- Coordinate with generation providers to monitor air permit operating limits and emissions thresholds.
- Track permit utilization and ensure dispatch strategies remain within regulatory requirements.
- Support environmental reporting and operational documentation related to generation activities.
- Escalate potential compliance concerns to Operations and Environmental leadership.
Conduct of Operations
- Execute Conduct of Operations standards across all operational activities.
- Coordinate operational communications among Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Environmental, Fuel Suppliers, and Generation Providers.
- Ensure operational procedures, shift turnovers, and decision-making processes follow established standards.
- Promote operational discipline, procedural compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in operational reviews, readiness assessments, and incident investigations.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor generation performance, forecast accuracy, dispatch effectiveness, and fuel utilization.
- Develop operational reports and performance metrics for leadership.
- Identify trends and recommend process improvements to enhance operational reliability and efficiency.
- Support emergency operations and after-hours coordination as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy Management, Operations Management, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
6+ years of experience in power generation, utility operations, energy operations, data center infrastructure, or industrial operations.
Experience with electrical load forecasting and generation planning.
Experience coordinating complex operational activities across multiple stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with natural gas scheduling or fuel nominations.
Knowledge of turbine generation operations.
Experience supporting mission-critical infrastructure or hyperscale data centers.
Familiarity with environmental permitting and air emissions compliance.
Experience with Conduct of Operations principles.
Knowledge of SCADA, EMS, or generation management systems.
Understanding of utility operations, dispatch coordination, and power system reliability.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $126,200 to $264,100 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
