Role Overview
This position involves providing cardiopulmonary and mechanical circulatory support in a fast-paced, complex clinical environment, primarily supporting heart failure, transplantation, and trauma cases. The perfusionist will operate advanced extracorporeal support devices, develop perfusion care plans, administer medications, and perform blood transfusions under supervision. They will also participate in the evaluation and troubleshooting of mechanical support systems, assist with inter-hospital patient transports, and contribute to education and training programs for staff and students.
Key Responsibilities
This position involves providing cardiopulmonary and mechanical circulatory support in a fast-paced, complex clinical environment, primarily supporting heart failure, transplantation, and trauma cases. The perfusionist will operate advanced extracorporeal support devices, develop perfusion care plans, administer medications, and perform blood transfusions under supervision. They will also participate in the evaluation and troubleshooting of mechanical support systems, assist with inter-hospital patient transports, and contribute to education and training programs for staff and students.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer pharmaceuticals, transfuse blood products, and evaluate technological equipment for optimal patient care.
- Conduct cardiopulmonary bypass, support ventricular assist devices, and manage extracorporeal membrane support systems.
- Coordinate and execute patient transport involving mechanical support devices, ensuring safety and support during procedures.
- Design and participate in training programs for perfusion staff and students, including device setup and troubleshooting.
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; 2-5 years preferred.
- Licenses & Certifications: Certified Clinical Perfusionist, Licensed Perfusionist, and CPR certification.
- Strong critical thinking, technical expertise, and ability to work in a team environment.
