An exciting and rewarding opportunity is available for a suitably qualified candidate to join the Harbourside Lodge team at Portland District Health.

The Personal Care Worker is to help individuals with daily living activities while promoting their safety, comfort, dignity, and independence.

The purpose of the Personal Care Worker role in Harbourside Lodge is to:

  • To promote independence by support individuals in residential aged care to complete everyday tasks on their own as much as possible.
  • Ensure safety and well-being by monitoring individuals health, assist with safe movement, and prevent accidents or injuries.
  • Maintain dignity and respect by providing person-centred care that honours the personal preferences, culture and background of each individual.
  • Provide emotional support by offering companionship and human connection to reduce isolation and improve quality of life.

Hours of work may include shift work, weekends and Public Holidays.

About You

  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing)
  • More than 12 months experience in residential aged care - desirable
  • Experience in person-centred care delivery to individuals
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Current CPR Certificate
  • Current employee NDIS Workers Screening Check
  • Up to Three years of experience in residential aged care
  • Assistant in Nursing (AIN) with additional clinical training

  • Residential aged care for 30 residents at Harbourside Lodge

PDH delivers services from a single campus, employs around 470 staff with an FTE of approximately 290, and has an active volunteer workforce. The People and Culture Unit sits within the Corporate Services Directorate, with other Units including Finance, Building Services, Food Services, Environmental Services, Executive Support, Administration and Health Information.

  • Details of at least two professional referees. We will be calling them and asking them a wide range of questions about how you performed as an employee in your past roles. They need to be able to provide feedback on your performance.

  • Police Record Check
  • Current Victorian Working with Children's' check
  • Current Immunisation status. This role must be meet the requirements of the Portland District Health Immunisation Policy.
