Position Overview & Career Growth Pathway

Rx relief is seeking a motivated, growth-oriented Pharmacist-In-Charge (PIC) to lead daily operations at a high-performing 340B community pharmacy in Kansas.

Are you a retail pharmacist looking to break into hospital or health-system leadership? This position provides a rare bridging opportunity. Previous inpatient experience is not required. The role begins by directing operations at an established 340B retail pharmacy, with a structured pathway to expand leadership oversight to an adjacent partner Critical Access Hospital.

Key Responsibilities

Pharmacy Operations & Supervision: Direct day-to-day workflow, manage pharmacy personnel (technicians, staff pharmacists, and support team), oversee inventory replenishment, and optimize dispensing processes.
Regulatory & Legal Compliance: Serve as the Pharmacist-In-Charge of record with the Kansas Board of Pharmacy (and neighboring state boards as required for cross-border fulfillment). Maintain strict adherence to DEA, FDA, state laws, and corporate compliance programs.
340B Program Leadership: Manage 340B retail operations, split-billing software administration, PSAO/PBM relationships, and program audit readiness to ensure program integrity and optimal drug pricing.
Clinical & Patient-Centered Care: Review prescription orders, perform compounding, monitor drug therapies for incompatibilities, counsel patients, and serve as a clinical resource to local care teams.
Quality Assurance & Safety: Enforce infection control, standard precautions, HIPAA privacy guidelines, and safety standards while actively participating in facility QA initiatives.
Health System Integration: Prepare to assume operational oversight of the neighboring Critical Access Hospital inpatient services as the leadership role expands.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education: PharmD or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (B.S. Pharm) from an ACPE-accredited institution.
Licensure: Active, unrestricted license from the Kansas Board of Pharmacy (or active licensure in another state with the willingness to acquire Kansas licensure via reciprocity). Out-of-state candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
Experience: 1–2 years of community or retail pharmacy experience preferred. Prior PIC, lead, or supervisory experience is a plus.
Specialized Knowledge: Exposure to 340B retail workflows is preferred.
Skills: Strong leadership, clear interdisciplinary communication, sound clinical judgment, and proficiency with healthcare IT systems.

Schedule & Working Conditions

Work Schedule: Stable day shift, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM.
Travel: Local/Stationary (no routine travel required).
Environment: Clean, supportive community pharmacy setting with standard retail/ambulatory physical demands.

Compensation & Benefits Package

Competitive Pay: $75.00 – $85.00 per hour (with an additional pay increase upon expanding oversight to the hospital).
Sign-On Incentive: $10,000 Sign-On Bonus.
