The Cleveland Clinic Children’s Center for Artificial Intelligence (C4AI), as part of the Pediatric and Adult Congenital Heart Center (PACHC), is seeking a research or postdoctoral fellow with interest in applying artificial intelligence and machine learning to clinical problems in pediatric and adult congenital heart disease for a 1-year position. Sample projects include:
Multimodal artificial intelligence combining ECG and imaging
Use of large language models to improve data extraction from the EHR
Exploring the use of wearable biosensors in congenital heart disease
This position would be under the supervision of Animesh (Aashoo) Tandon, MD, MS; Orkun Baloglu, MD; Samir Latifi, MD; and Catherine Allan, MD.
This unique position benefits from the tight link between C4AI and the PACHC, as well as relationships across Cleveland Clinic. The candidate will interact with both technical and clinical partners to improve patient care through novel technologies. There will also be opportunities to interact with large-scale Cleveland Clinic programs, including the Cleveland Clinic-IBM Discovery Accelerator program.
Successful applicants will be proficient in python programming and use of AI techniques in healthcare (LLMs and ECG most importantly). Clinical knowledge is a plus but not required (we can provide that!).
Applicants may consider this position if they want to add a significant research experience before applications to residency or fellowship training, or as a postdoctoral position. Applicants must have completed an MD or PhD degree or equivalent. The training could have been in the United States or international. For non-US citizen applicants, H1b visa options will be available. This research fellowship position would not be governed by ACGME.
