Working at Moffitt is both a career and a mission: to contribute to the prevention and cure of cancer. As the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center based in Florida, Moffitt employs some of the best and brightest minds from around the world. Join a dedicated team of nearly 11,000 who are shaping the future we envision. Moffitt has been recognized as a Best and Brightest Company to Work For in the Nation and is continually named one of the Tampa Bay Times’ Top Workplaces. Summary The Medina Laboratory in the Department of Immunology and the Immuno-Oncology Program at Moffitt Cancer Center is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join our growing research team. Our laboratory studies the fundamental mechanisms that regulate anti-tumor T cell responses, with a particular focus on immunometabolism, T cell exhaustion, and tumor-immune communication. We seek to uncover how metabolites and lipid signaling pathways shape T cell function within the tumor microenvironment and leverage these discoveries to develop next-generation cancer immunotherapies. Our research integrates mechanistic studies in genetically engineered mouse models, tumor transplantation models, high-parameter flow cytometry, CRISPR-Cas9 genetic approaches, transcriptomics, metabolomics, and analysis of human tumor samples. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead independent projects while working within a collaborative and highly interactive cancer immunology environment. Link to Medina Lab website Position Highlights Join a newly established and rapidly growing laboratory focused on fundamental and translational questions in cancer immunology and immunometabolism. Gain extensive experience with mouse tumor models, CRISPR-Cas9 functional genomics, high-dimensional flow cytometry, metabolomics, and transcriptomic analysis. Opportunity to develop independent research projects and publish in high-impact journals. Outstanding mentorship from expert faculty with wide-ranging funded research programs. You will be encouraged and supported to apply for training grants, fellowships, and career development awards. The Ideal Candidate Strong background in immunology, cancer biology, molecular biology, or a related biomedical field (required). Experience working with mouse models and in vivo experimentation (required). Expertise in multicolor flow cytometry, immune cell phenotyping, and data analysis (preffered). Experience with molecular biology techniques, including cloning, gene editing, or CRISPR-Cas9 approaches (preffered). Demonstrated ability to work independently, think critically, and drive research projects forward. Strong written and verbal communication skills with a commitment to collaborative science. Responsibilities Design, execute, and interpret mechanistic studies investigating T cell biology and anti-tumor immunity using multiple methods. Prepare manuscripts, fellowship applications, and scientific presentations. Contribute to the mentorship of graduate students and research staff within the laboratory. Present research findings at laboratory meetings, institutional seminars, and national/international conferences. Credentials and Qualifications PhD and/or MD in Immunology, Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field. Should have at least one first-author publication (or first author manuscript in preparation). Prior experience in cancer immunology, T cell biology, mouse models, or immunometabolism is strongly preferred but not required. Moffitt Postdocs are provided with Medical (Moffitt covers premium for team member) and eligible for Dental, Vision, Paid Time Off, Retirement, Parental Leave and more.
