We're partnering with a highly ambitious semiconductor startup developing a fundamentally new computing architecture at the intersection of analog/mixed-signal IC design, physics and AI hardware.

Rather than treating the inherent stochastic behaviour of CMOS devices purely as something to suppress, the team is exploring how those physical properties can become part of the computation itself.

The company has already demonstrated its core technology in silicon and is now expanding its IC team as it develops its next generation of significantly larger chips.

We're looking specifically for a Principal Analog / Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer to take substantial technical ownership of new silicon.

This is a deeply hands-on role. You'll work from transistor-level circuit design through architecture, physical implementation, tapeout and silicon bring-up, with the opportunity to own significant portions of future chips.

What you'll work on

Depending on your background, your work could span:

• Analog amplifiers, comparators, references and biasing
• ADCs, DACs and mixed-signal interfaces
• PLLs, oscillators, dividers and clocking
• LDOs and low-power analog circuitry
• Calibration, mismatch and offset-cancellation techniques
• Noise-sensitive and stochastic circuits
• New circuit architectures without established implementations

This isn't a role where you'll spend your time maintaining a single mature IP block. The team is small, highly technical and deliberately broad.

You'll be expected to move comfortably between device-level behaviour, circuit/block design and wider system considerations.

What we're looking for

You'll likely have:

• 6+ years of hands-on analog/mixed-signal CMOS IC design experience
• Multiple successful tapeouts, with experience debugging and characterising returned silicon
• Deep transistor-level circuit intuition and strong analog fundamentals
• Experience across multiple analog/mixed-signal blocks rather than one very narrow speciality
• Strong understanding of feedback, stability, noise, mismatch and PVT variation
• Cadence Virtuoso / Spectre experience, including post-layout simulation and extraction
• Strong physical-design awareness, including matching, parasitics and critical layout decisions
• A willingness to remain hands-on with layout when needed
• MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline

Experience with precision analog, data converters, SerDes, PLLs, ultra-low-power design, subthreshold circuits, calibration, temperature sensing, stochastic/probabilistic hardware, compute-in-memory or other unconventional computing architectures would be particularly interesting.

Prior experience in thermodynamic computing is not required.

We're much more interested in exceptional analog/mixed-signal fundamentals and engineers who enjoy applying them to problems that haven't already been solved.

Compensation: $200,000–$325,000 base + equity
