For an experienced Civil Engineer, this is an opportunity to move beyond individual design projects and take a lead role in shaping infrastructure outcomes across a diverse regional network.

We are partnering with a regional Queensland local government organisation seeking a senior engineering professional to lead its infrastructure design and technical services function from Biloela.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You'll provide engineering direction across civil infrastructure projects while leading a team responsible for design, technical investigations, project support and engineering advice.

Rather than being focused on one major project, you'll work across a broad range of infrastructure challenges, helping determine practical engineering solutions and ensuring projects are designed to appropriate technical, safety and legislative standards.

You'll also have the opportunity to influence how the technical function operates, mentor developing engineers and technical staff and work closely with internal delivery teams, consultants and external stakeholders.

What you'll be responsible for:

Your role will span civil design, technical leadership and project coordination, including:

• Leading civil infrastructure planning and design across roads, drainage and associated infrastructure
• Preparing and reviewing engineering designs, calculations, specifications, cost estimates and construction documentation
• Providing senior technical advice on infrastructure projects, operational works and development requirements
• Managing engineering consultants and infrastructure projects across scope, budget, quality and program
• Undertaking and overseeing specialist assessments including bridge inspections, road safety and heavy vehicle route assessments
• Leading, mentoring and developing a multidisciplinary Technical Services team

The role also has responsibility for technical systems, work practices and continuous improvement across the engineering function.

Who we're looking for:

We're looking for an experienced Civil Engineer who combines strong technical judgement with the ability to lead people, consultants and projects.

To be seriously considered, you'll need to bring:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
• Strong experience in civil infrastructure planning and design, ideally across roads, drainage and local government infrastructure
• Demonstrated experience preparing or reviewing engineering designs, calculations, specifications and technical documentation
• Experience managing infrastructure projects, consultants and competing technical priorities
• The leadership and communication capability to supervise and develop a technical team while providing credible engineering advice to senior stakeholders

RPEQ will be highly regarded, along with experience across asset management, surveying, GIS and civil engineering/design software.

You'll also need to hold a Queensland C Class Manual Driver Licence and current General Safety Induction Card.
