Staffworx are working with a well-funded, venture-backed deep tech startup based in Boston, MA. They're building a fundamentally new class of computing hardware, harnessing naturally occurring thermal noise in standard CMOS devices for ultra-low-power probabilistic computation, with the potential for order-of-magnitude power savings over conventional AI acceleration approaches.

Founded in 2022 by engineers with a background in advanced quantum computing research, the company has grown to around 30 people and produced three chips already. They're now defining the architecture for three further chips, so this hire gets genuine ground-floor influence over the product roadmap.

Two levels open on this search:

Principal (6+ years) - potential design lead for one of three upcoming chips.

Senior (2 to 5 years) - block-level design ownership.

Both will lead or contribute to analog and mixed-signal block design (ADCs, PLLs, bandgaps, regulators, high-speed SerDes, oscillators and dividers), own hands-on layout and verification (DRC/ERC/LVS), and work closely with systems, physics and algorithms teams to bring novel probabilistic computing concepts into silicon.

What good looks like:

🔹 Strong analog background, ideally with mixed-signal experience (SerDes, PLLs, oscillators, dividers)

🔹 Solid CMOS foundation; FinFET or sub-28nm is a plus, not essential

🔹 Multiple tape-outs, with genuine transistor-through-system circuit analysis

🔹 Hands-on layout experience, or willingness to pick it up in a startup environment

🔹 Comfortable with broad-scope, unglamorous work typical of early-stage hardware

Package: to $325K base plus competitive equity.

Hybrid, 3 days per week in the Boston office. Relocation candidates considered.

Visa: role requires US export control authorisation (EAR/ITAR). Sponsorship and visa transfers (OPT, H1B transfer, new H1B, TN) supported for the right candidate previously, confirmed case by case.

This is a genuinely ground-floor opportunity to shape the architecture of a new computing paradigm, working across a small, highly technical team. Recruitment is currently a top priority for the hiring manager, so the process is moving quickly.
