Principal Software Engineer – Azurion Eye – Plymouth, MN

Job Description

The Principal Software Engineer will lead the development, analysis, validation, and documentation of data-driven and machine-learning-enabled workflows for clinical imaging software within the Azurion Eye program, collaborating with AI/ML engineers, software engineers, product owners, testers, and cross-functional stakeholders to improve clinical workflows and efficiency.

Your Role

  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Software Architects, Systems Engineers, and Testers to translate requirements into medical imaging and system integration features.
  • Leverage strong C++ expertise to develop clinical and messaging features that enable integration between IntraSight and Azurion systems.
  • Break down requirements into BDD scenarios and contribute to Agile planning and predictable delivery of roadmap features.
  • Apply strong software architecture, design, coding, and integration practices while ensuring solutions align with the broader software platform architecture.
  • Lead software documentation and participate in risk management activities, including FMEA, while adhering to Philips Agile QMS and medical-device regulatory requirements.

You're the right fiit if:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related field.
  • 12+ years of software development experience, including 10+ years of C++ development experience with C++ used in their current or most recent role.
  • Experience integrating AI capabilities into software platforms and optimizing intelligent workflows, with knowledge of DICOM, HL7, FHIR, PACS, RIS, or HIS.
  • Experience with modern development and DevOps tools such as Visual Studio, Azure DevOps, Git, CMake, Jenkins, and GitHub Actions.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum or Kanban environments and developing software within regulated medical-device environments; knowledge of IEC 62304, IEC 82304, ISO 13485, and ISO 14971.
  • You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position. 

How we work together

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.

Philips Transparency Details

The pay range for this position in Minnesota is $146,475.00 to 234,360.00.

The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.    

In addition, other compensation, such as an annual incentive bonus, sales commission or long-term incentives may be offered. At Philips, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each case.
