Job Description:
By joining us as a Principal Systems Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across architecture, data and applications within a Model-Based Systems Engineering environment. You will lead Systems Engineering tooling strategies and provide guidance on tool configuration, customisation and concept development.
The role includes stakeholder engagement and driving digital engineering transformation. Working within the Systems Engineering Transformation Team, you will help embed modern Systems Engineering capabilities to enable the efficient delivery of complex programmes.
Core duties:
- You will provide technical leadership and guidance on matters relating to a discipline and may occasionally lead a team of engineers which will include direct line management responsibility
- Liaise with both internal and external stakeholders as required, ensuring that their requirements are adequately supported and that their needs are fully considered and incorporated where appropriate and agreed
- You will be responsible for managing Systems Engineering tooling requirements and concept development
- Provide guidance to the programme to migrate models from Sparx EA to Cameo Systems Modeller
- You will also provide support and guidance on MBSE tool configuration and customisation
- Conduct tooling feasibility studies and impact assessments which will include both automation and AI
- You will be responsible for managing the tools used by the Model-Based Systems Engineering discipline. This will include the requirements for tools and infrastructure support, model management and migration, aswell as supporting the transition to digital engineering
Essential Skills:
- You will require the theoretical knowledge to solve problems in new technologies, alongside the ability to develop new analytical techniques. This will also require you to have demonstrable prior successful application of knowledge to deliver innovative products and services or be able take technical responsibility for complex engineering systems
- You will need to hold experience of developing technical staff and effectively transferring technical knowledge across the team
- A good understanding of the Enterprise architecture frameworks ArciMate will be required
- You will need good familiarity of Cameo systems modeller (Dassault) , Sparx Systems architecture and DOORS
- Prior experience of producing clear, user-friendly technical documentation to support the understanding and effective use of business tools will be required
