# Process Engineer
## About the Role
NPA WorldWide is seeking a Process Engineer to provide technical and economic support for process unit operations in a chemical manufacturing environment. The role focuses on improving process efficiency, product quality, production capacity, safety, environmental performance, equipment reliability, and operating costs.
The Process Engineer will work closely with engineering, production, maintenance, management, colleagues, technicians, and outside contractors to troubleshoot operations, develop and implement process improvements, support new product and equipment development, and coordinate projects from development through production. The position also requires strong technical knowledge of chemicals and their physical and safe-handling properties, along with the ability to work across Japanese-American cultural lines.
## Key Responsibilities
* Provide technical service to the assigned process unit through daily monitoring of unit operations.
* Identify opportunities to improve quality, reduce costs, enhance safety, lower emissions, and improve operating performance.
* Present technically substantiated recommendations to the unit team for implementation.
* Develop and conduct tests and evaluate results for proposed operating changes.
* Investigate production, safety, environmental, and quality issues.
* Provide technical support for PSM/RMP and other regulatory programs.
* Evaluate the technical and economic feasibility of modern technologies, safety recommendations, operability improvements, and planned capacity changes.
* Support annual control budgets, operating reviews, and economic studies for proposed operating programs.
* Provide technical support for maintenance of existing equipment.
* Improve processes and equipment for more efficient and cost-effective operations.
* Design and document chemical processes for improved product development.
* Coordinate process development activities with colleagues and management.
* Select equipment required for new product development.
* Design and document processes and select equipment for scaling new products from development to production.
* Write operating procedures and provide training for the safe operation of new equipment.
* Select equipment and control devices to improve process control.
* Lead selected projects, including planning, activity coordination, and progress reporting.
* Supervise technicians as required.
* Monitor and report on relevant modern technologies.
* Coordinate engineering and production activities to maximize equipment uptime and achieve high-quality production safely and environmentally responsibly.
* Provide engineering and maintenance services to operations as required.
* Establish and implement engineering and maintenance cost-saving techniques.
* Maintain operations within fiscal budget constraints and pursue material, labor, maintenance, and repair cost savings.
* Evaluate goals and priorities within the department.
* Collaborate with engineers, managers, and other stakeholders through group meetings.
* Assist with adherence to regulatory agency requirements.
* Assist with equipment design and operation to minimize environmental releases.
* Provide engineering assistance to troubleshoot plant operations and design improvements that optimize performance and reduce costs.
* Maintain schedules and control the cost of design changes by specifying and assisting with equipment purchases.
* Collaborate with outside contractors during installation of new equipment and systems.
* Develop knowledge of chemicals and their physical and safe-handling properties within the assigned area.
* Maintain a safe and environmentally sound working environment.
* Maintain plant goals and objectives on an overall basis.
* Communicate continuously with management and other stakeholders as necessary.
* Maintain prompt, regular, and dependable attendance.
## Required Qualifications
* Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering.
* Chemical process experience in manufacturing, petrochemicals, or a similar environment.
* Ability to work across Japanese-American cultural lines.
* Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including lifting up to 50 lbs., maintaining good mobility, working for 12 hours, climbing stairs several times per shift, and having good hearing and sense of smell.
## Preferred Qualifications
* 10+ years of experience as a Process Engineer in a chemical or petroleum manufacturing environment is strongly desired.

## Education & Experience
