Job Title: Process Technician

Job Description

This Process Technician role supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of critical utility and process systems within a high-demand industrial power facility. You will operate, monitor, and maintain fluid distribution systems such as water, compressed air, gas, ammonia, and other utilities that are essential to facility operations. Working in a complex industrial environment, you will perform routine inspections, respond to equipment issues, and assist with both preventative and corrective maintenance while upholding strict safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain industrial process systems and utility equipment to ensure continuous and efficient operation.
  • Perform routine inspections and rounds on pumps, compressors, valves, piping, tanks, heat exchangers, and related equipment.
  • Monitor fluid systems including water, gas, compressed air, ammonia, cooling systems, and other facility utilities to verify proper performance.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve operational issues that affect system performance and reliability.
  • Collect and record operating data such as pressures, temperatures, flow rates, and equipment status for tracking and analysis.
  • Assist maintenance personnel with equipment repairs, system shutdowns, system startups, and preventative maintenance activities.
  • Perform equipment isolation and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures in accordance with established safety standards.
  • Support commissioning, testing, and optimization of new and existing process equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations and internal safety policies.
  • Maintain accurate logs, reports, and shift documentation, and respond appropriately to alarms, abnormal operating conditions, and emergency situations.
  • Work closely with engineers, maintenance technicians, and operations teams to maximize system reliability and uptime.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas in accordance with facility housekeeping standards.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience in industrial environments such as power plants, refineries, chemical or process plants, manufacturing facilities, or similar large-scale operations.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining water treatment or distribution systems.
  • Experience working with compressed air systems in an industrial setting.
  • Experience working with natural gas systems and related distribution equipment.
  • Experience working with ammonia systems and associated safety practices.
  • Experience with process piping systems including installation, operation, or maintenance.
  • Experience with industrial pumping systems, including operation, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), process flow diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Experience using monitoring equipment, gauges, meters, and control systems to track system performance.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude for diagnosing and resolving equipment and process issues.
  • Ability to safely operate tools and industrial equipment in accordance with safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of fluid mechanics and fluid systems as applied to industrial processes.
  • Experience in production, electrical, facilities maintenance, mechanical repair, and industrial troubleshooting.
  • Ability to follow and apply Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and other safety protocols.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience supporting commissioning, testing, and optimization of new or upgraded process equipment.
  • Experience in chemical processes or mixing operations within industrial facilities.
  • Familiarity with process piping layouts and industrial pump configurations.
  • Comfort working collaboratively with engineers, maintenance teams, and operations staff.
  • Strong attention to detail in documenting operating conditions, maintenance activities, and shift events.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of housekeeping and workplace organization.

Work Environment

This role is based in a high-demand industrial power facility that operates complex fluid distribution and utility systems, including water, compressed air, gas, ammonia, and cooling systems. You will work around industrial pumps, compressors, valves, piping, tanks, heat exchangers, and control systems, using gauges, meters, and monitoring equipment to track performance. The position follows a rotating shift schedule with 12-hour shifts: A Shift operates Sunday to Wednesday from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., B Shift operates Sunday to Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., C Shift operates Wednesday to Saturday from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and an additional shift operates Wednesday to Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. The environment requires strict adherence to safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout and compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations. You will be expected to maintain clean, organized work areas in line with facility housekeeping standards while working in a dynamic, 24/7 industrial setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Southaven, MS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $44.00 - $60.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
