Procurement & Finance Operations Manager
Our client is an AI and physical sciences company running a high-throughput materials R&D lab, where a steady flow of chemicals, gases, specialty materials and equipment keeps experiments moving. As the lab grows and new sites come online, they’re looking for someone who can own the full purchase-to-pay cycle while bringing real financial rigor to how the lab plans and spends. You’ll split your time between the lab floor, making sure inventory is organized and stockouts never slow the science, and the systems behind it, turning that data into forecasts, cost models and dashboards that help leadership plan what comes next.
What you’ll do
- Own capex and opex purchasing for lab consumables, specialty materials, gases, chemicals and equipment, from purchase order to payment.
- Organize physical inventory and track consumable burn rates so the lab avoids stockouts.
- Build forecasting and preventive systems that turn inventory and spend data into early warnings.
- Model what it costs to run the lab and each experiment, and use it to plan for future sites.
- Track spend against budget and feed forecasts into company financial models.
- Manage vendors: pricing, lead times, agreements, invoice tracking and milestone payments.
- Build dashboards, automated workflows and tracking tools that scale with the lab.
- Must-havesHands-on experience owning purchasing workflows and vendor management in a technical, hardware, manufacturing or R&D environment.
- Strong financial acumen: budgeting, forecasting, spend tracking and tying operational data into financial models.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial work.
- Experience with an ERP and spend management system, ideally NetSuite and Ramp or comparable tools.
- Comfort working both on the floor with physical inventory and at the desk building systems and analysis.
- Nice-to-havesLab procurement experience with consumables, chemicals and lab materials.
- Experience in materials, hardware, robotics, biotech or semiconductor settings.
- Background in a corporate procurement or supply chain organization.
- Experience building procurement or inventory systems from scratch, including barcode or QR tracking.
- Operational or manufacturing finance experience, including COGS analysis.
- Experience supporting high-throughput R&D.
