Its platform combines accounting expertise with AI agents to streamline complex work such as month-end close, bookkeeping, tax and audit. The company works closely with its customers and maintains a high standard for product quality and design.

The Role

Our client is seeking a Product Lead with deep accounting domain expertise to join as one of its first product hires. Working directly with the founding team, the Product Lead will be responsible for understanding how accounting teams work, identifying where processes can be improved, and translating those insights into product features. The role combines operations, product discovery and hands-on product development. A technical or engineering background is not required; the Product Lead will use AI-assisted development tools to prototype and deliver features.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct customer discovery with accounting teams, including interviews and workflow analysis, to identify operational challenges and opportunities
Use the platform in day-to-day accounting work and apply those insights to the product roadmap
Translate customer needs into clear product requirements for the engineering and AI teams
Support the evaluation and improvement of AI performance on accounting tasks
Design and deliver product features using AI-assisted development tools
Uphold high standards for user experience and product design

Qualifications

4–8 years of experience in accounting, tax, audit or consulting, at the Senior Associate, Manager or AVP level
In-depth knowledge of accounting workflows, including month-end close, bookkeeping, tax preparation or audit
A professional background in one of the following:
- Public accounting (Big 4 or mid-tier firm) or fund accounting
- Management consulting or finance, combined with operational leadership at a startup (for example, as a Founder, Chief of Staff or Operations Lead)
Ability to work effectively with customers and technical teams, and to turn business requirements into product solutions
A high level of ownership and adaptability, and strong attention to product quality and user experience
Ability to work on-site 4–5 days a week in New York City (relocation assistance available)
Authorized to work in the United States (visa transfers such as OPT or H1B will be considered)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in an early-stage or high-growth company
Experience building products or prototypes with AI-assisted development tools
Foundational technical knowledge, such as application architecture, databases or SQL
Familiarity with accounting practice management software
