Job Overview & Responsibilities

Job Overview

Lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team delivering capabilities for the SLS-specific Centaur Upper Stage. As an Agile Product Owner and engineering technical lead, you will drive product vision, technical integration, and iterative delivery for the new 180k Centaur Upper Stage integrated with NASA’s Space Launch System. Each Product Owner is accountable for leading their team(s) to deliver value and achieve program objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Agile Product Ownership and Delivery

  • Set and communicate product vision and roadmap for assigned features or subsystems.
  • Serve as the Team Lead for your product team(s), establishing objectives, delegating tasks, setting clear priorities, and fostering accountability.
  • Maintain and refine the product backlog, ensuring alignment with program objectives and stakeholder needs.
  • Lead Agile ceremonies, partner with Scrum Masters on planning, use JIRA and Confluence to track progress, analyze and report team metrics, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Coach and mentor team members in Agile principles, technical rigor, and professional development.
  • Translate stakeholder requirements into actionable, testable objectives and clear acceptance criteria.
  • Manage competing priorities across internal and external stakeholders.

Technical Integration for SLS Centaur

  • Lead multidisciplinary integration across cross-technology airborne development teams.
  • Collaborate with System Architects, Chief Engineers, and other Product Owners to ensure seamless integration across the SLS Centaur program.

Risk, Opportunity, and Supplier Management

  • Manage cost, technical, and schedule risk with a proactive issue and opportunity framework.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

  • Communicate early and often across engineering, program management, supply chain, and customer teams.
  • Present technical and programmatic status to leadership.
  • Foster a collaborative team culture that emphasizes safety, technical rigor, and learning.

Required Education

Bachelor

Required Years of Experience

Minimum of 6 years of related work experience

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Engineering development experience across lifecycle stages such as proposal, SCR, SRR, PDR, CDR, build and test.
  • Launch vehicle experience supporting flight or ground systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate effectively across multiple engineering functions (Mechanical, Strength/Stress, Propulsion, Thermal, Avionics, Software, Manufacturing, Production, etc.).
  • Experience building and maintaining strong internal and external relationships, including customer engagement.
  • Proven technical leadership and team collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep technical expertise in launch vehicles or spacecraft, with experience integrating complex subsystems and leading trade studies, risk and opportunity identification, and root-cause investigations.
  • Experience leading engineering teams with Agile project management practices and tools, including JIRA, Confluence, and iterative delivery.
  • Experience across multiple engineering functions such as Mechanical, Electrical, Structures, Propulsion, Avionics, Software, with design, analysis, and test background.
  • Supplier management and coordination.

Summary Salary Range (for ULA - Denver only): $121,307.00 - $202,178.00

Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.
