Our client is a B2B manufacturer in the sustainability space seeking a hands-on Production Engineer to join their team. They operate within a fast-paced startup environment where every day can be different. Position Overview

The Production Engineer will support day-to-day operations, quality testing, and equipment activities across internal facilities and contract manufacturing partners. The Production Engineer blends technical problem-solving with operational coordination by planning production and fulfillment, troubleshooting equipment, running quality-control testing, and maintaining accurate inventory and ERP records. This role is ideal for a generalist who enjoys supporting a wide variety of projects with enthusiasm and close attention to detail. Relocation, H1B transfers, or unique visa situations will not be covered by the client.

Responsibilities Of The Production Engineer

  • Plan and coordinate production, fulfillment, inventory, and capacity activities.
  • Support new equipment installations, including engineering design input, procurement, setup, vendor training, and definition and verification of process parameters.
  • Operate, evaluate, and troubleshoot production and laboratory equipment; coordinate vendor service, maintenance, calibration, and technical support.
  • Lead and coordinate quality-control testing, including preparing samples, maintaining results, comparing test data, and preparing findings for review.
  • Maintain accurate ERP records, including transactions, bin locations, inventory consumption and transfers, lot traceability, and fulfillment information.
  • Write and manage operating procedures and work instructions for operations, laboratories, warehouse activities, and contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs).
  • Support equipment evaluations, technical reviews, and manufacturing activities performed internally and at CMOs.
  • Coordinate shipment timing, packing information, documentation, and pallet preparation with Supply Chain for customer and intermediate-step shipments.
  • Select appropriate material from inventory for customer orders when multiple options exist and the choice has cost or quality implications.
  • Operate specialized converting and marking equipment for material trials, sample preparation, and quality activities.
  • Support new product development efforts and other cross-functional operational priorities.
  • Support sorting, staging, cutting, packing, receiving, unloading, and organization of materials for testing, processing, and fulfillment.
  • Travel internationally, typically for one to two consecutive weeks (rarely up to one month), to investigate issues, support equipment and process activities, and assist operations onsite.
  • During peak demand, assist with hands-on warehouse and fulfillment work, including moving materials and manually packing products. Forklift operation may occasionally be needed, and training will be provided.

Required Experience/Skills For The Production Engineer

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in a professional environment is required.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations, fulfillment, laboratory activities, equipment, or related technical operations.
  • Demonstrated technical judgment, problem-solving ability, and the capacity to work independently.
  • Ability to plan and schedule work, manage multiple priorities, and make sound fulfillment and inventory decisions.
  • Ability to write clear operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Aptitude to learn and use ERP systems, production and laboratory equipment, and material-handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks and forklifts).
  • Willingness to perform substantial hands-on and physical work alongside technical and administrative responsibilities.
  • Availability for international travel, typically one to two consecutive weeks. Work visa support is available where required.

Preferred Experience/Skills For The Production Engineer

  • 3 - 5 years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Experience with NetSuite or a comparable ERP system.
  • Hands-on experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, fulfillment, quality-control, laboratory, or equipment-support environment.
  • Experience coordinating with equipment vendors and contract manufacturers.
  • Project management and/or capital project experience.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering is preferred.
  • Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering candidates are also encouraged to apply.
