Are you a motivated and proactive colleague who would like to join our Shared Research Facilities (SRF) team in Wageningen and contribute to further developing our research facilities strategy, with the aim of creating greater impact and value through our advanced equipment and research facilities?

Advanced research facilities are an essential part of Wageningen University & Research’s (WUR) innovation and value creation strategy, enabling us to develop solutions that have an impact on the challenges our world faces. Innovative, state-of-the-art research equipment and facilities are essential in order to conduct world-class research into healthy food and a sustainable living environment. Our team is positioned within the Value Creation department and is responsible for coordinating investments in research infrastructure, optimising collaboration and creating value. To achieve this, we make research facilities more visible and encourage the sharing of research facilities both within our organisation and with external parties, many of which are also located on Wageningen Campus. In doing so, the colleagues in the SRF team work closely with colleagues from the Wageningen Campus team.

We are looking for an enterprising Programme Manager who, as part of the SRF team, will work both independently and as part of a team to develop strategic WUR policies for the further development of (shared) research facilities and to realise substantial investments in advanced research equipment. In addition, the Programme Manager will act as Secretary to the SRF Scientific Advisory Board and as Secretary to the SRF Steering Committee.

Being part of the SRF team means being at the heart of innovation processes involving a wide range of people and organisations. In addition to colleagues from Wageningen Campus, internal stakeholders include professors, researchers and management teams from WUR’s five Science Groups, as well as colleagues from Finance & Control, IT and Procurement. There is also extensive interaction with external organisations, including other universities, businesses (including start-ups and other SMEs), public sector organisations such as the Province of Gelderland and the Ministries of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy and Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature, as well as organisations such as Foodvalley and Oost NL.

The Role Of Programme Manager SRF Involves

• secretary role: Acting as General Secretary to the SRF Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) and General Secretary to the SRF Steering Committee, providing administrative, communicational and organisational support within the SAB and Steering Committee. Initiating and coordinating both internal and external advisory processes and strategic decision-making regarding the funding of research facilities;
• coordinating and shaping the process from initial idea to the realisation of research facilities within WUR, involving and connecting all relevant stakeholders and playing an active role in strategically developing and deploying the SRF Roadmap;
• further developing our network of (shared) research facilities with both internal and external partners;
• acting as the point of contact for the sharing of research facilities for both internal and external stakeholders;
• grant implementation: Initiating and coordinating investments in shared research equipment and facilities, communicating and reporting on progress to funding bodies, and monitoring the impact of shared research equipment;
• exploring additional funding opportunities and independently preparing and submitting new grant applications. Experience with grant application processes is a plus.
• co-developing and organising meetings and communication activities relating to SRF;
• working together with SRF and Wageningen Campus colleagues to develop a long-term strategy for WUR and the Wageningen Campus ecosystem, with the aim of generating maximum impact and value from research facilities.
  
  

Your qualities

For this position, we are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Programme Manager who:

• is a team player who operates at an academic level and is familiar with the WUR domain;
• has at least five years of recent relevant professional experience and is well acquainted with R&D and the facilities required to support it;
• has excellent written and verbal communication skills, in Dutch (minimum C1 level, hence fluent in Dutch is mandatory) and English;
• can represent WUR internally and externally at various levels;
• has excellent relationship management skills;
• is proactive and flexible;
• combines strong organisational skills with interpersonal sensitivity.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between € 4,220.- and € 7,337.- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 11/12). Additionally, for this role a contract for 32 hours can be discussed. We initially offer a one-year contract with the intention of converting it to an indefinite contract.
