Project Engineer – EC&I
Channel Islands | Guernsey & Jersey | £60,000–£75,000 + Relocation & Rental Support

We’re looking for an experienced Project Engineer with an Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) background to join a growing engineering team and take ownership of a varied portfolio of operational, capital maintenance and growth projects across Guernsey and Jersey.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer who enjoys being involved throughout the full project lifecycle — from initial concept and design through to commissioning, handover and close-out.
🔧 What you’ll be doing
- Deliver engineering projects from initiation through to commissioning, handover and final reporting.
- Act as the EC&I technical lead across project activities including HAZOP, LOPA, design, commissioning and validation.
- Develop improvement projects and turn concepts into practical engineering solutions.
- Manage capital maintenance and growth projects, including budgets, schedules, quality and project risks.
- Provide technical support across LPG and network operational areas.
- Develop engineering standards, procedures and controls.
- Coordinate technical resources and third-party contractors.
- Support Operations and Asset Management with engineering analysis and technical reviews.
- Contribute to asset integrity and asset information initiatives.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to technicians and operational teams.
- Work collaboratively across both Guernsey and Jersey.
- Participate in the management on-call rota.
👷 What we’re looking for
You’ll ideally bring:
- A BEng/BSc in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Control Systems Engineering or a related discipline — or HNC/HND/equivalent.
- 5+ years’ experience in an engineering and/or operational environment.
- Proven experience managing engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of instrumentation, electrical installations and industrial automation/control systems.
- Experience with PLC, SCADA and/or DCS platforms.
- Experience within gas, chemical, petrochemical, process, utilities or a similar engineering environment.
- Understanding of project risk management and engineering project delivery.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, including P&IDs, PFDs and engineering schematics.
- Knowledge of CMMS/asset management systems.
- ArcGIS/ArcMap experience would be advantageous.
- Strong communication, analytical and organisational skills.
