Project Overview:
The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S. Our team is helping the customer progress early-stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery this year. We're seeking an experienced candidate to be the Field Superintendent- Rigging, on the SCGT portion of the project in Pecos, Texas. You will mobilize on a long-term (camp) assignment to the project in Pecos, TX. This position is contingent upon project award
Job Summary:
The Project Lead Rigging Superintendent provides onsite leadership for all crane & rigging related construction activities primarily focused on the project’s Single Cycle Gas Turbine Plants, T350 Turbines, and site works ensuring all work is executed safely, meets technical requirements, and aligns with project schedule and budget objectives. This role directs field superintendents, oversees daily field operations, and drives workforce planning, progress reporting, and cost/schedule performance. Working closely with engineering, construction management, and project controls, the Lead Rigging Field Superintendent resolves constructability issues, supports the development of work scopes, and ensures effective use of automation tools and project procedures. The position plays a central role in maintaining quality, enforcing use of current design documents, and ensuring that tools, materials, and equipment are available to support efficient execution.
Major Responsibilities:
Leadership/Supervision
- Lead & direct supervision and subcontractor teams, ensuring safe and efficient execution of daily work.
- Oversee subcontractor performance and coordination, ensuring alignment with project expectations.
- Performs general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions.
- Participate in developing scopes of work, rigging plans then executing safely in the field
- Oversees, coordinates and reports field activities of construction subcontracts
- Engage proactively in team development through CPM processes, competency assessments, and continuous feedback.
- Assists in the development and monitors 3 Week Look Ahead Schedule for assigned work scope.
- Develop corrective plan to ensure progress and productivity targets are met.
- Verifies that all material, tools and other resources needed to support the 3 Week Look Ahead Schedule are available and on site.
- Assists when necessary in meetings to review/assist in daily, weekly, and monthly planning
- Supervises direct hire projects superintendents
- Maintains a daily log for site records. Including Crane & Rigging Inspection Programs
- Monitors supplier Technical Service Representative (supplier) daily log and reviews/approves their time sheets.
- Coordinates assigned subcontractor(s) daily and weekly work plans with other disciplines.
- Reviews the lift plan and JHA for critical lifts, may need to conduct the pre-job brief before the lift is executed.
Safety & Quality
- Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
- Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.
- Ensures the implementation of corporate/project policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned operations.
- Monitors the activities of subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
- Monitors work activities and ensure the quality of work performed.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Preferred previous experience delivering a power plant as Rigging Superintendent
- Works with Construction Field Engineers, superintendents, and in some cases craft personnel, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
- Implements understanding of industry / International Codes & Standards applicable to work scope.
- Utilizes and leverages applicable automation software and processes as applicable.
- Preferable thorough knowledge of Bechtel SWPP’s & CP regarding crane & rigging
- Competent in supervising crane & rigging activities with BEO required certifications
- A strong background in craft management and understanding of the project (Non Union) labor agreement.
