Your role at St John of God Burwood Hospital,
Bring your skills, knowledge and clinical expertise to the role of General Psychiatry Registrar. Working as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate closely with Consultant Psychiatrists to deliver high-quality psychiatric care and support patient recovery and wellbeing. This fixed-term, full-time position (38 hours per week) provides an excellent opportunity to further develop your career within a supportive and progressive healthcare setting.
The role
- To admit and provide psychiatric care to patients that have been admitted under the supervising psychiatrist and other psychiatrist as directed by the Director of Clinical Services.
- To conduct outpatient sessions at the Burwood Medical Centre if require
- To participate in Psychiatric Registrar Training Program activities
- To participate in research and quality Improvement activities as directed.
- To participate in teaching activities with medical students.
- To participate/coordinate patient care as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Act as a resource and support to Unit Managers and other clinical staff.
- Assume responsibility for organising own workload, in collaboration with supervisor, to complete agreed upon duties within agreed time frame per clinical indicators
- To assist in providing ward cover to the hospital if required.
- To provide support to clinical staff in an emergency response procedure when required
You will hold general registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) and have at least three years of clinical experience in a healthcare setting and be on the Advanced Psychiatric Registrar Training Program
You will demonstrate a genuine interest in Psychiatry and be committed to delivering high-quality patient care while working under the guidance and supervision of senior clinicians.
The successful candidate will possess strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively. Experience in Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) services is desirable, although training and support can be provided.
