  • Secondment Opportunity – Existing permanent employees must first discuss this opportunity with their substantive line manager and complete the secondment request form prior to interview. We are seeking to recruit a fixed term or secondment Psychological Therapist/CAAP to NHS Forth Valley’s Substance Use Psychology Service. The post holder will work within a multidisciplinary team to offer psychological therapy to patients within the Substance Use Psychology Services (Based within the wider Substance Use Services). Consultancy and training will be core aspects of the role. The post holder will be a member of and will contribute to NHS Forth Valley’s friendly and dynamic Substance Use Psychology specialty, which operates in partnership with our local Recovery Community to offer a matched care approach to psychological intervention. In turn, the Substance Use Psychology specialty works cohesively with other specialties within wider Psychological Services. As such there are ample opportunities for networking with psychological therapist colleagues including service wide reflective practice groups and CPD events. Staff wellbeing is given high priority and professional management support will be arranged.

Candidates must possess a Mental Health Qualification (e.g.RMN, MHO, AHP) or CAAP qualification as well as being trained in at least two high intensity, evidence-based psychological interventions e.g. CBT, TF-CBT, IPT, EMDR, Schema therapy. Experience of working with people who have experienced trauma and substance use difficulties is essential in this role. Group work experience would also be beneficial.

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
