Capax Mundi is recruiting for new reactor developers in Europe that are moving from design to prototype and ultimately to build. Each is growing its reactor design team and is looking for engineers to take the detailed design of a new reactor from concept to hardware.

This is core reactor design, not core physics. Neutronics and fuel management sit with separate teams. The NSSS team owns the reactor itself: core components and internals, the reactor vessel, reactor process systems, heat transfer equipment, mechanisms and the instrumentation that goes with them.

What you will do

- Own detailed design of reactor core components, internals and reactor process systems

- Design, prototype and test: take designs to test rigs, learn from the results and iterate

- Produce and review 3D models, drawings and design documentation in a digital design environment

- Work with systems engineering on requirements, interfaces and configuration control

- Work with safety and licensing so that design choices support the safety case

- Act as a technical interface to specialist suppliers, test laboratories and industrial partners

What you bring

- Degree in mechanical, nuclear, process or a related engineering discipline

- Hands-on design experience on reactor components or systems (light water, SMR or advanced reactor), such as core components and internals, vessels, primary circuit equipment, heat exchangers, control rod drives or reactor I&C

- Thermal-hydraulic understanding of reactor cooling; experience with natural circulation or passive safety systems is a strong advantage

- Working knowledge of relevant nuclear codes and standards (ASME III, RCC-M, KTA or similar)

- Experience with CAD/PLM and design review in a structured engineering process

- Enjoys building and testing real hardware, not only analysis

- Open to considering relocation. The teams work together on site; a transition period of regular commuting while a family move is organised can be discussed

- European candidates preferred. Work permit support is available for the right person
