Where you'll be working

We are a friendly, supportive and approachable team who value looking after each other. Staff wellbeing is a strong focus, with an emphasis on maintaining a healthy work–life balance.

About The Opportunity

Tamworth Hospital is offering an exciting opportunity to join the Supported Introduction to Cardiac Care Program, providing a structured and supportive pathway for Registered Nurses to develop their knowledge, clinical skills and confidence in cardiac care.

As a participant, you will spend six months in the Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) and six months in the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory (CCL), gaining valuable experience across both inpatient and procedural cardiac care. The position reports to the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) of the CCU and Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory, with day-to-day support and clinical guidance provided by the experienced CCU and CCL nursing teams.

Across the 12-month program, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Provide nursing care to patients before and after angiography, following pacemaker insertion and experiencing cardiac arrhythmias.
  • Develop knowledge and skills within the cardiac catheterisation environment.
  • Gain experience in angiography, PCI, TOEs and pacemaker insertion.
  • Develop clinical competence and confidence across a range of cardiac nursing skills.
  • Work closely with experienced cardiac nurses, medical staff and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in ongoing education, professional development and reflective practice.

You will work part-time or full-time rotating shifts, including mornings, evenings, nights and weekends, as applicable to the clinical area.

About You

We are looking for Registered Nurses who are motivated, passionate and committed to providing safe, compassionate and high-quality care.

You Will Bring

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Empathy, compassion and a genuine commitment to supporting patients and their families.
  • The ability to think critically and problem solve effectively.
  • A willingness to learn, seek feedback and develop your clinical practice.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Previous cardiac nursing experience is not essential. The program is designed to support Registered Nurses to develop their cardiac knowledge and skills through structured education, supervised clinical practice and mentoring.
