This position reports to a Research Scientist II and will contribute to a research program focused on the development and characterization of novel, proprietary reagents for genomics applications. The Research Associate I will execute established experimental protocols, maintain accurate laboratory records, and participate as an active member of the R&D team under the guidance of senior scientists. This role is well suited for someone eager to develop hands-on laboratory skills in a dynamic, fast-paced biotech environment. The successful candidate will gain valuable exposure to next-generation sequencing technologies, enzyme biochemistry, and commercial product workflows, with opportunities to grow as they build their scientific foundation. Responsibilities Execute molecular biology experiments, including PCR, qPCR, buffer optimization and next-generation sequencing sample preparation workflows Accurately document all experimental procedures, observations, and results in laboratory notebooks and data management systems Perform routine bioinformatic analyses using established pipelines under the direction of senior scientists Contribute to a team responsible for launch of commercially successful enzymes and genomics products Participate in team meetings and contribute to group scientific discussions Identify and communicate observations that may support process improvement Skills and Requirements The candidate should hold a BS in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline. Experience in the following areas is highly desirable: next-generation sequencing (NGS), DNA sample preparation, PCR, qPCR and NGS data analysis. Knowledge of DNA- and RNA-modifying enzymes is a plus. The following skills and experience are requirements for the position: Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques Ability to follow written protocols precisely and communicate deviations clearly to supervisors Self-motivation and sound personal task management skills Careful attention to detail and commitment to accurate experimental documentation Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work as an effective team member Familiarity with basic data analysis tools (spreadsheets, descriptive statistics) Experience with standard molecular biology techniques such as PCR, qPCR, vector design, and gene cloning methods Excellent organizational skills and outstanding attention to detail Good communication and personal task management skills and a high level of self-motivation Education BS in Molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline Compensation The base compensation for the Research Associate I role starts at $65,000 - $80,000 + bonus + equity; actual pay will be adjusted based on skills and experience.
