Sanitation Manager – Food Manufacturing

Supply Chain Talent Advisors has been engaged by a growing food manufacturer to recruit a Sanitation Manager for its facility in the Sioux City metropolitan area.
This is a sanitation leadership role—not a Quality Manager position with sanitation added to the responsibilities. The company needs someone who can take ownership of sanitation execution, develop people, make sound decisions independently, and help build a strong internal sanitation program.
The Opportunity
During the first 90 days, the Sanitation Manager will serve as the primary contact for the company’s outside sanitation provider. This person will oversee execution, address performance issues, support pre-operational readiness, and ensure corrective actions are completed.
Following the initial transition period, the Sanitation Manager will help build the company’s internal sanitation team and program. Much of the framework is already in place, but the company needs an experienced sanitation leader who can complete it, implement it, and own the function long term.
Responsibilities
- Lead sanitation execution across multiple shifts
- Manage the relationship with the outside sanitation provider
- Build and develop sanitation supervisors, leads, and hourly team members
- Own SSOPs, master sanitation schedules, pre-op readiness, and corrective actions
- Oversee chemical usage, cleaning procedures, inventory, and vendor relationships
- Work closely with FSQA, Operations, Maintenance, and Production
- Respond to sanitation issues outside normal business hours when needed
- Identify recurring problems and implement lasting improvements
- Support USDA, customer, and third-party audits
- Help transition sanitation from an outsourced model to an internal team
Qualifications
- Direct sanitation leadership experience in food manufacturing
- Experience managing sanitation supervisors, leads, or large hourly teams
- Strong knowledge of SSOPs, pre-op inspections, chemicals, wash procedures, and corrective actions
- Experience in a USDA-regulated food environment strongly preferred
- Experience building, rebuilding, or improving a sanitation program
- Experience managing an outside sanitation contractor is highly valuable
- Ability to make decisions and own the function without constant direction
- Spanish-language ability is helpful
- HACCP, SQF, PCQI, and broader FSQA experience are helpful but secondary to sanitation leadership
The company is looking for someone who has done more than supervise an established sanitation crew. The successful candidate will have the ability to develop leaders, solve difficult problems, build the program, and take ownership when sanitation issues arise.
Compensation and Location
- Base salary: $90,000–$110,000
