Job Description The Security Officer (SO) plays a vital role in the National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR) community, focusing on the detection, deterrence, and prevention of threats and hazards to maintain a safe and supportive work environment. This position resides within the Laboratory Protection (LP) group at NLR. As a Security Officer - Specialist II, you will apply industry experience of security protocols and procedures to independently perform routine operational responsibilities . This is a collaborative time to ensure successful long-term fit, providing dedicated support and training as you become acquainted with your role and our organization. Salary: Qualified and successful candidates will receive a job offer with an annual salary between $51k-64k. Shift Schedule and Pay Differential: Shift 1: 11 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. (additional12% shift pay differential) Shift assignment and days off are determined based on team needs. This position is eligible for overtime. Report Writing: Independently produce clear, accurate, and organized incident reports with minimal corrections. SEB Operations: Begin training in visitor processing and develop foundational knowledge of visitor requirements and procedures. Additional Responsibilities : Maintain First Aid/CPR/AED certification . Support overall Laboratory Protection mission objectives through additional duties as assigned. Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week) Job Profile: Specialist II / Annual Salary Range: $44,500 - $71,200 NLR takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees.
