Job Description - Seed Orchard Manager (01025022) Job Description Seed Orchard Manager - 01025022 Description The Seed Orchard Manager joins Weyerhaeuser’s Southern Timberlands team in Lyons, Georgia, and reports to the Seed & Orchard Team Manager. This key leadership role oversees the financial and operational performance of the Lyons Seed Orchard, team development, strategy execution, and reliable seed supply, with additional oversight of the remotely managed Oak Park, Georgia, Seed Orchard. Southern Regeneration includes three pine seedling nurseries and six seed orchards and produces approximately 150 million seedlings each year. Key Responsibilities Lead strategic site management, including environmental, health, and safety programs. Execute the annual orchard management plan, including establishment, controlled mass pollination, protection, maintenance, and cone harvest. Lead and develop Weyerhaeuser employees and contractors. Manage budgeting, purchasing, site maintenance, security, contracts, permits, and licenses. Develop equipment and facility maintenance schedules and capital replacement plans. Build strong partnerships with Seed Orchard Managers and the Tree Improvement team. Support Lyons seed inventory and monitor container seedling development at nearby growing facilities. Perform other duties as assigned. What Success Looks Like You quickly learn the role’s responsibilities and annual operating calendar, consistently meet critical deadlines, strengthen collaboration across seed orchard locations, and maintain safe, reliable operations. You build team capability and bench strength while balancing seasonal execution, financial stewardship, compliance, equipment readiness, and customer value delivery. Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher in Forestry, Agriculture Engineering, Soil Science, or Agronomy with at least four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Role model of safe work practices with willingness to intervene when unsafe behavior is observed. Desire to inspire and lead a diverse team to achieve and exceed expectations. Willingness to live within one hour of the Lyons Seed Orchard. Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office. Excellent communication, time-management, and negotiation skills. Solid business and financial understanding, including P&L drivers, budgeting, administration, and capital implementation. Experience operating tractors and implements. Proven experience in situational management, coaching, and team building. Understanding of and commitment to customer value delivery expectations. Passion for innovation and continuous improvement. Willingness to work extended hours during outdoor peak activity seasons, perform work at heights, and work in all weather conditions. Preferred Qualifications Regeneration experience. Background in loblolly pine cone and seed biology and nursery practices. Ability to maintain site equipment. Experience operating an aerial lift. Compensation : This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $82,533 - $123,800 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.
