About the role


Capability Development is seeking expressions of interest for a Senior Advisor Capability Development Talent Pathways role within the Future Workforce team.


The role is responsible for shaping and strengthening early-career development pathways across Trade, University and Frontline pathway portfolios, including Graduate, Apprentice and School-Based programs, ensuring they align with business priorities, workforce needs and future capability requirements.


The role plays a key part in shaping early-career pathways aligned with current and future workforce needs. Working across the business and with key partners, it brings together workforce priorities, capability requirements and insights to develop the required skills and capability.


This is an opportunity to influence the future of early-career development across Iron Ore and help build pathways that strengthen workforce readiness now and into the future.


Key Responsibilities


  • Design and continuously improve early-career development pathways, frameworks and solutions aligned with workforce and capability needs.
  • Solve complex workforce capability challenges, connecting business priorities, workforce requirements, data and insights to develop practical solutions.
  • Partner with business leaders, functional experts and external partners, including universities, RTOs and government support agencies, to shape solutions, strengthen pathways and influence outcomes.
  • Translate workforce requirements into practical pathway plans, development approaches and implementation priorities.
  • Establish and strengthen governance, standards and performance measures to improve pathway consistency, effectiveness and workforce outcomes.
  • Use workforce data, participant insights and leading practice to identify emerging needs, risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Lead and coordinate improvement initiatives, working across stakeholders and dependencies to deliver sustainable outcomes.


About You


You bring strategic thinking, strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate business workforce requirements into practical outcomes.

You are comfortable operating across multiple pathways and stakeholder groups, identifying systemic issues and translating broad workforce needs into clear recommendations and practical action.


You are a strong collaborator and influencer who builds trusted relationships and uses data and insights to continuously improve outcomes.


Experience across graduate, apprentice, school based and frontline pathways is highly desirable, along with a relevant tertiary qualification.


To be successful, you will demonstrate:


  • Strong strategic, analytical and problem-solving capability.
  • Ability to design and build practical development solutions, pathways and frameworks.
  • Strong stakeholder partnering and influencing skills across diverse groups.
  • Ability to use data and insights to inform decisions and drive continuous improvement.
  • Strong planning, governance and implementation capability.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear recommendations and solutions.

Experience in capability development, workforce planning, organisational development or learning and development will be beneficial.
