About the Role

This is a senior applied AI engineering role focused on building the AI systems layer behind a process intelligence platform. You will own the systems that turn messy enterprise data into structured, reliable process insights, covering retrieval, context construction, structured extraction, evals, orchestration, and monitoring. This work sits at the core of the product and directly shapes what customers experience.

What You'll Do

  • Design and maintain production AI pipelines built on top of hosted frontier model APIs (e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini).

  • Own retrieval and context construction systems, including embeddings, hybrid search, chunking, and reranking.

  • Build structured extraction workflows that pull trustworthy information from long or messy enterprise documents.

  • Define quality standards, build representative datasets, and ship evals, regression tests, guardrails, and fallback paths.

  • Instrument and monitor AI services for latency, cost, failures, and output quality in production.

  • Iterate on AI features based on direct customer feedback.

  • Reason about pipelines end-to-end, from raw customer data through to user-facing product behavior.

What We're Looking For

  • 4 or more years of experience in applied AI, ML engineering, or production software development.

  • Proven track record shipping AI/ML systems in production with sustained ownership, not just internal tooling.

  • Strong Python skills, including async patterns and integration with AI/ML tooling; familiarity with a typed language (Go, C++, Java, or similar) is a plus.

  • Hands-on experience with RAG, retrieval systems, or agent orchestration workflows.

  • Experience building evals, benchmarks, or CI/CD pipelines for AI/ML systems, including LLM-as-judge and hallucination reduction techniques.

  • Comfort with agentic, multi-step workflows where plans, tools, or intermediate outputs can fail.

  • Startup experience or a strong affinity for early-stage environments with ambiguity and fast iteration.

  • Strong CS fundamentals, typically from a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including with customers.

  • Experience with multimodal inputs (documents, screenshots, video, transcripts) is a bonus.
