Senior C++ Engineer | Trading Systems

We are partnering with a leading global quantitative trading and technology firm that develops high-performance systems operating in some of the most demanding real-time environments in the world. The firm combines technology, data, and quantitative research to solve complex problems at scale and deliver competitive advantages across global financial markets.

As a C++ Developer, you will work closely with experienced engineers, researchers, and business stakeholders to design, build, and optimise critical trading infrastructure and applications. This role offers significant ownership, direct business impact, and exposure to highly complex distributed systems where performance, reliability, and scalability are paramount.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop low-latency, high-performance applications using modern C++.
• Build scalable distributed systems capable of processing large volumes of real-time data.
• Optimise software performance through profiling, benchmarking, and systems-level analysis.
• Collaborate with quantitative researchers, infrastructure engineers, and business stakeholders to solve technical challenges.
• Contribute to architecture decisions and help drive engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues across software, networking, and infrastructure layers.
• Take ownership of projects throughout the full software development lifecycle.

Requirements

• Strong commercial experience developing software in modern C++.
• Excellent understanding of operating systems, concurrency, multithreading, networking, and memory management.
• Experience building high-performance, highly available distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of algorithms and data structures.
• Proven ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for working on complex technical challenges.

Desirable

• Experience within trading, financial markets, or another performance-critical environment.
• Knowledge of Linux systems programming.
• Experience with low-latency optimisation and performance analysis.
• Familiarity with large-scale data processing systems.
