Senior Program Director – Power Generation

Haydon Healy is partnering with a leading engineering, construction and project delivery organization to appoint a Senior EPC Program Director within its growing Power Generation business.

This is a senior leadership position responsible for the execution of some of the largest and most complex power generation EPC projects in the United States.

The role sits at the intersection of project leadership, construction execution, commercial management and client delivery. You will have overall accountability for major projects from engineering and procurement through construction, startup and commissioning.

We are particularly interested in leaders who have delivered large-scale gas-fired, combined-cycle, simple-cycle or broader thermal power generation projects and who are comfortable taking ownership of complex EPC programs at executive level.

You will provide overall leadership for major EPC projects, taking responsibility for:

• Safety, quality, cost, schedule and overall project performance.
• Construction execution and field leadership across large, complex project sites.
• Engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning integration.
• Leadership of Project Directors, Project Managers, Construction Managers and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Labor strategy, productivity and workforce planning.
• Major subcontractor strategy and performance.
• Project controls, forecasting and schedule management.
• Commercial, contractual and project risk.
• Resolution and recovery of challenging or underperforming projects.
• Executive-level relationships with clients, partners and key project stakeholders.
• Staffing and organizational planning across major project teams.
• Supporting contract negotiations and the development of repeat and new business opportunities.

You will act as one of the senior points of accountability for project delivery, stepping into the most commercially or operationally complex issues and ensuring projects remain aligned around execution, profitability and client expectations.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience across EPC, construction or major capital project delivery, with a significant portion of that experience within the power generation sector.

Relevant backgrounds could include:

• Combined-cycle / CCGT power generation.
• Simple-cycle generation.
• Gas-fired or thermal power plants.
• Large-scale power EPC.
• Major utility or independent power producer projects.
• Complex industrial or energy infrastructure.

Strong candidates will typically have experience in several of the following areas:

• Leading major EPC projects from engineering through construction and commissioning.
• Managing projects valued in the hundreds of millions or billions of dollars.
• Senior construction and field execution leadership.
• Managing large self-perform and subcontracted workforces.
• Labor productivity and construction planning.
• Project recovery and troubleshooting.
• Project controls and schedule management.
• Commercial and contractual risk.
• Executive client engagement.
• Leading large multidisciplinary project organizations.
• Managing multiple Project Managers or Project Directors.

This is a senior project leadership position supporting major projects across the United States.

• Travel: Typically 50%+ depending on active project requirements.
• Relocation: Assistance may be available.
• Working model: A degree of flexibility may be available when project responsibilities allow.
• Visa sponsorship: Candidates must already be authorized to work in the United States.
