Senior Electrical Controls Design Engineer – UL 508A

Location: Lewisville, TX – Onsite

Salary: $140,000–$160,000 + substantial bonus package

Relocation assistance available

H-1B visa transfers may be considered

We’re recruiting several Senior Electrical Controls Design Engineers to join a fast-growing engineering business developing advanced power-distribution equipment for AI and data-center infrastructure.

Despite the “controls” element, this is not primarily a PLC programming position.

The core focus is the ground-up electrical design of industrial control panels: developing schematics and panel layouts, selecting compatible components, producing accurate bills of materials, and ensuring each design can be manufactured safely and compliantly.

The Opportunity

You’ll take ownership of control-panel designs from initial requirements through to production, working closely with engineering, sales and manufacturing teams.

A major part of the role will involve reviewing technical requirements and component selections, identifying incompatible or incorrectly specified parts before they reach production, and creating complete, accurate design packages for UL-listed equipment.

You’ll be working on high-power systems supporting some of the world’s most demanding AI and data-center infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design industrial control panels and electrical control systems from the ground up
  • Produce electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams and complete design packages
  • Select control-system components and verify their technical compatibility
  • Develop accurate bills of materials, wire schedules and supporting documentation
  • Review sales and engineering specifications to identify unsuitable or conflicting components
  • Design in accordance with UL 508A, UL 891, NEC Article 409 and related standards
  • Work closely with mechanical, manufacturing and applications engineering teams
  • Support testing, troubleshooting and the transition of designs into production
  • Improve design accuracy, manufacturability, reliability and standardisation
  • Provide technical guidance across multiple concurrent customer projects

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong experience designing industrial control panels or electrical control systems
  • Demonstrable experience creating panel designs from a blank sheet—not solely modifying existing drawings
  • Practical knowledge of component and part selection, including compatibility checks
  • Working knowledge of UL 508A and experience within a UL-listed panel shop or manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks Electrical is strongly preferred
  • Candidates using AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical-design software will also be considered
  • Experience producing schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams and bills of materials
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify design or specification errors
  • Experience within data centers, critical power, switchgear, power distribution or high-power infrastructure would be particularly valuable

PLC knowledge can be useful, but advanced PLC programming experience is not a core requirement for this position.

Compensation

  • Base salary of $140,000–$160,000
  • Personal performance bonus of up to 10%, paid in December
  • Company performance bonus of up to 35% or more, depending on company performance, paid in March
  • Bonuses will be prorated during the first year based on the successful candidate’s start date
  • Comprehensive wider benefits package

Relocation and Visa Support

Candidates already based in Texas are welcomed, but this search is open across the United States.

Relocation assistance may be available for the right candidate, and qualified professionals requiring an H-1B visa transfer are encouraged to apply. Visa support will be considered individually and is limited to a small number of exceptional hires.

This is an opportunity to join a rapidly scaling engineering organisation working at the forefront of AI and data-center power infrastructure, with multiple positions available and significant scope for long-term progression.
