Eaton’s ES AMER PCS division is currently seeking a Senior Engineer - Medium Voltage. This role will take place out of our Moon Township, PA office (Pittsburgh area) . The hybrid schedule is 3 days on-site each week minimum. We are able to offer relocation assistance for qualified candidates within the United States.

As the Senior Engineer for Medium Voltage you will execute design engineering projects for Eaton’s Medium Voltage (MV) Circuit Breaker product line. Responsibilities include new product development from inception through production implementation, maintaining third party certifications, supporting our manufacturing operations, enhancing performance and value of existing products and responding to application issues. The position works closely with the industrialization and product line marketing teams, in addition to plant manufacturing, and quality teams. This individual will have design responsibility for select products and projects, learn industrial circuit breaker technology, and is expected to develop MV vacuum circuit breaker technical expertise.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $86000 - $126000 a year.

What you’ll do:

  • Support business growth through team-based new product development and production launch to market.
  • Develop strong technical knowledge of circuit breaker products and technology, and the governing regulatory standards and customer requirements.
  • Compile requirements, lead conceptual and detailed design, development, prototyping, validation, and documentation of product designs.
  • Build prototypes and execute test programs to evaluate designs.
  • Work with manufacturing process owners to design according to capabilities and to establish process controls for cost-effective, defect-free manufacturing.
  • Provide accurate design documentation with tolerances and Bills of Materials.
  • Lead stage-gate new product development activities including with required documentation for relevant projects. Participate in project reviews.
  • Enhance performance margin using Design for Six Sigma quality tools, and simulation. Initiate changes to drive product robustness.
  • Secure and maintain third-party certifications.
  • Participate in process improvement to enhance effectiveness and quality, accelerate programs and reduce costs.
  • Utilize communication skills to plan project activities, present in design reviews, clarify requirements, deploy instructions, lead teams and share application information.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, customers, and partner organizations in programs of mutual benefit, including standards-making bodies and certifying agencies.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
  • 3 years of experience in related field with focus on new product development and design.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year of experience working with industrial components or electro-mechanical equipment.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of (Design For) Six-Sigma quality tools, modeling, and simulation for engineering.
  • Communication, presentation, customer engagement and related business skills.
