About The Team Our Small Animal Surgery team provides specialist referral services across soft tissue, oncologic, orthopaedic and neurosurgical cases. Due to the upcoming retirement of one of our long-standing Professors, we have two positions available in our surgery team for either Soft Tissue or Orthopaedics focussed or someone who enjoys all aspects of surgery. The team consisting of two board certified surgeons, one residency trained surgeon, three residents and two Post Graduate Trainees (interns) brings together extensive surgical expertise to support pets with a wide range of complex conditions, from abdominal, thoracic and cardiovascular procedures through to advanced orthopaedic, spinal and reconstructive surgery. Working within a fully equipped hospital environment, the team is supported by specialist anaesthesia, 24-hour intensive care, internal medicine, oncology, cardiology, advanced diagnostic imaging, clinical pathology laboratory and highly skilled nursing staff. This integrated approach allows the service to manage challenging surgical cases while maintaining a high standard of care before, during and after surgery. The team works closely with referring veterinarians to provide advice, consultation and surgical treatment tailored to each patient’s needs. Whether a case is straightforward or highly complex, their focus is on delivering expert surgical care and supporting a smooth recovery through coordinated postoperative management with the pet’s regular veterinarian. Demonstrated ability to work under broad direction only, exercise initiative in undertaking responsibilities and work effectively as a team member. A high level of achievement in successfully supervising honours, Masters by Coursework, HDR and postgraduate students (including residents) to completion. A record of success in the application of curriculum design and pedagogy, including substantial experience with leading and designing programs of study.
