The role will focus on Manufacturing and Production Development.

Spiral Hydrogen is building a new kind of electrolyzer, one that doesn't produce bubbles and achieves 90% efficiency (compared to 60 to 70% for conventional systems). Our goal is green hydrogen cheap enough to compete with fossil based hydrogen, decarbonizing a €200B industry.

The role is based at the Innovation Dock at the Port of Rotterdam, a former shipyard turned into one of the city's most exciting innovation hubs. It is a modern working space inside a striking industrial building, surrounded by dozens of startups and companies trying to change entire industries, from energy to maritime to robotics. A great place to build something new.

What you'll own

Take our rotating, bubble free alkaline electrolyzer from first prototypes (TRL 4) to 10 to 100 kW pilots (TRL 6 to 7) and beyond. You'll join 2 other mechanical engineers (team of 10 total) working on sealing, wobbling, liquid and gas channels, and design for manufacturing. We need someone who can build thousands of cells that are exactly the same, down to the micron, in a brand new architecture.

What you'll need

• 5+ years hands-on experience building new products, prototypes, testing, and metrology, ideally in an agile startup environment

• 5+ years with production and manufacturing processes (DFM, injection molding, assembly lines, NPI), at the scale of roughly 300,000 identical electrolytic cells with micron precision

• Proactivity and passion for the mission

Nice to have

• Hydrogen or fuel cell systems experience

• Experience operating in corrosive environments

• Experience with rotating machinery

• Materials engineering background

Full time, on site in Rotterdam. We need someone available in situ by September 1st.
