As a senior member of the team, you will lead assay development activities, act as a technical subject matter expert, and collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality scientific outcomes. You will also contribute to mentoring junior scientists, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring projects are executed to the highest scientific and quality standards.
This role is ideally suited to a scientifically curious and commercially aware professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, influencing project direction, and working within a collaborative, fast-paced laboratory environment. Experience with ligand binding assays, immunoassays or related bioanalytical techniques within a regulated setting will be highly regarded.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, optimise and transfer complex immunoassay and biomarker-based analytical methods to support a variety of research and development programs.
- Act as a scientific subject matter expert, providing technical guidance throughout the assay development lifecycle.
- Maintain regular communication with project stakeholders regarding study progress, timelines, technical challenges and project deliverables.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure successful progression of methods from development through qualification, validation and routine implementation.
- Lead technical investigations and troubleshooting activities to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
- Prepare, review and maintain scientific documentation, including analytical methods, study protocols, reports and associated technical records.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of laboratory procedures, processes and quality practices.
- Support regulatory compliance by ensuring activities are conducted in accordance with applicable industry standards and quality requirements.
Team & Leadership Responsibilities
- Manage assigned projects and laboratory activities to ensure work is delivered to agreed timelines and quality standards.
- Mentor and support junior scientists through technical coaching, training and knowledge sharing.
- Provide scientific input into assay design, data interpretation, problem solving and process improvements.
- Participate in the technical assessment and planning of new research programs and client opportunities.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

QUALIFCATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Immunology, Life Sciences or a related scientific discipline. Advanced qualifications are advantageous.
- At least 4 years' experience working within a scientific laboratory environment.
- Demonstrated experience developing, optimising and troubleshooting ligand binding assays, immunoassays or related bioanalytical techniques.
- Experience working within a regulated laboratory environment is highly regarded.
- Strong scientific problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse complex datasets and draw meaningful conclusions.
- Proven ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both scientific and non-scientific stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail and commitment to data quality and accuracy.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
- Experience supporting external clients, research partners or cross-functional stakeholders is advantageous.
