About the Role

Join a small, senior engineering team building the machine learning foundation for consumer software. You will shape data pipelines, models, retrieval systems, and inference infrastructure that power useful, intuitive product experiences, from search and personalization to assistant-like features.

What You'll Do

  • Architect and build machine learning and retrieval systems that support core product experiences.

  • Design data pipelines to ingest, classify, enrich, and summarize large volumes of user data.

  • Develop scalable inference infrastructure for real-time and batch workloads.

  • Select and fine-tune models, build embeddings and retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, and establish evaluation frameworks and quality measures.

  • Prototype new product ideas, then make successful approaches reliable and production-ready.

  • Partner with product, design, and engineering to turn complex AI capabilities into polished, easy-to-use features.

  • Help establish strong machine learning practices across a small, high-ownership team.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 5 years of software or machine learning engineering experience, with experience in consumer AI or machine learning systems.

  • Experience building and shipping machine learning product features from early concept to real users, such as personalization, ranking, search, or recommendations.

  • Hands-on experience developing custom models, including embeddings, recommendation, or personalization models, beyond prompt-based integrations alone.

  • Strong skills in Python and experience with FastAPI, PostgreSQL, vector databases, embeddings, or related technologies.

  • Background in applied machine learning, NLP, retrieval, LLMs, or inference systems, with sound judgment about how technical choices affect user experience.

  • A degree in computer science, mathematics, electrical engineering, or a related field, or equivalent fundamentals.

  • Progressive experience, comfort working in ambiguity, and experience contributing at a startup or in an early engineering team are valued.
