The Opportunity

GEDON has partnered with a highly established global construction and property consultancy with a significant presence across Queensland and the wider Australian market. The business provides project, cost and advisory services to major government, institutional and private-sector clients.

With a strong pipeline of major developments across Brisbane and Queensland, there is now an opportunity for a Planner / Senior Planner to join the Building & Property team. You will gain exposure to a diverse portfolio of complex projects spanning high-rise, hospitals & healthcare, commercial, education, residential and major mixed-use developments.

While the preference is to appoint an experienced Senior Planner, the business is also interested in speaking with developing Planners with a few years' post-graduate experience who have built strong technical foundations and are ready to accelerate their career within a major consultancy environment.

UK & Ireland Candidates – Sponsorship Available

Importantly, this opportunity is not restricted to candidates already based in Australia.

The business is particularly interested in speaking with Planners currently working within the UK and Ireland, with Australian visa sponsorship available for the right candidates.

Experience gained within the UK and Irish building markets is particularly transferable due to the similarities in construction methodologies, build processes, programming mechanisms, procurement and overall project delivery.

Candidates who have planned complex high-rise, healthcare, commercial, education, residential or mixed-use building projects within the UK or Ireland are therefore strongly encouraged to apply.

About the Role

As Planner / Senior Planner, you will provide planning, programming and scheduling expertise across major Building & Property projects from early-stage development and pre-construction through to construction and completion.

For more experienced candidates, the role will involve operating at a senior level with clients, reviewing complex programmes and providing strategic planning advice. For someone earlier in their career, you will work alongside established senior professionals with the opportunity to rapidly develop your technical and advisory capability.

Responsibilities can include:

• Developing, reviewing and maintaining detailed construction programmes and schedules.
• Providing planning and programming support across major building projects.
• Establishing programme logic, construction sequencing, milestones and critical paths.
• Reviewing construction methodologies and advising on programme implications.
• Monitoring project progress against approved programmes and identifying potential delays.
• Undertaking critical path and programme analysis.
• Reviewing contractor programmes and assessing logic, sequencing and deliverability.
• Supporting project controls, forecasting and performance reporting.
• Undertaking schedule risk and scenario analysis.
• Providing programme reporting and advice to clients and senior project stakeholders.
• Working collaboratively with cost, project management and wider advisory teams.
• For senior candidates, providing technical guidance and support to developing Planners.

Who Will This Suit?

The business is deliberately keeping the experience level relatively broad.

You could be an established Senior Planner looking to move into a leading consultancy environment, or you could be a Planner with a few years' post-graduate experience looking for the projects, exposure and senior mentorship required to accelerate your career.

Candidates from both main contractor and consultancy backgrounds will be considered.

You will ideally offer:

• Planning / programming experience within the building and construction sector.
• Anywhere from a few years' post-graduate experience through to established Senior Planner level.
• Experience on projects such as high-rise, hospitals, commercial, education, residential or mixed-use developments.
• Strong understanding of construction methodology, sequencing and buildability.
• Knowledge of critical path, programme logic and project dependencies.
• Experience developing and/or reviewing detailed construction programmes.
• Experience with Primavera P6 and/or equivalent industry planning software.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• The ability to engage effectively with clients, contractors and project teams.
• A relevant construction, engineering, project management or related qualification would be advantageous.
• Australian experience is not essential, particularly for candidates with relevant UK or Ireland building experience.
