Protecnium is an international firm specializing in engineering and technical services (www.protecnium.com/en). We are currently looking for a Senior Project Manager – Utility-Scale Solar (EPC Construction) to join our team for large-scale photovoltaic solar construction projects in the United States.
- Position: Senior Project Manager – Utility-Scale Solar (EPC Construction)
- Project: Large-Scale Utility-Scale Solar PV Construction Projects.
- Country: USA
- Location: Initial assignment in The Woodlands, Texas, followed by relocation to the assigned project site, primarily in South Carolina or Texas, with potential opportunities in Florida or Georgia. (100% onsite)
- Estimated Project Duration: Long-term / Project-based assignment. In general, when a project ends, we try to place the employee on other projects to provide continuity.
Summary
The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the full construction delivery of utility-scale photovoltaic solar projects, working from the EPC Contractor / General Contractor side.
The selected candidate will have direct responsibility for safety, scheduling, costs, quality and overall project execution, from initial mobilization through commissioning and final close-out.
We are looking for a professional with strong construction management experience, capable of leading multidisciplinary teams, coordinating subcontractors and suppliers, and managing all aspects of large-scale solar construction projects.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead project planning, mobilization, construction execution and final handover.
- Take full responsibility for project schedules, budgets, forecasting, productivity and financial performance.
- Direct field operations and coordinate Engineering, Procurement and Construction activities.
- Manage subcontractors and major suppliers, including change orders, claims and commercial matters.
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE), quality and contractual requirements.
- Identify and manage project risks, recovery plans and critical path issues.
- Maintain effective communication with clients, project owners, utilities, authorities, engineering partners and internal management.
- Prepare executive reports, forecasts and progress reviews.
- Support procurement, constructability assessments and resource planning.
- Lead commissioning coordination, project close-out, turnover documentation and lessons learned.
- Monitor construction progress, productivity and overall project performance to ensure successful delivery.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil, Industrial, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline.
- Proven experience as a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager managing utility-scale photovoltaic solar construction projects.
- Previous experience working for an EPC Contractor or General Contractor, with direct responsibility for complete construction delivery, is essential.
- Strong construction management experience, including field operations and multidisciplinary team coordination.
- Solid knowledge of project scheduling, cost control, budgeting and financial forecasting.
- Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers, change orders and contractual matters.
- Ability to identify and manage construction risks, schedule deviations and recovery plans.
- Previous experience in the U.S. solar or renewable energy construction market will be highly valued.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- English: Advanced / C1 level.
- Candidates must have the appropriate authorization to work in the United States.
- Availability to relocate and travel according to project requirements.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (including a 1-hour break).
- Flexibility to adapt working hours according to project requirements.
