Job Title: Senior Quality Inspector (Pipe - Internal Manufacturing)

Location: Barrow-In-Furness

Grade: S3

What you will be doing:

As a Quality Inspector, you’ll play an important role in supporting production activities across our Internal Manufacturing facility. Working as part of the Quality team, you’ll carry out quality inspections throughout the manufacturing process, helping to ensure products meet the required standards, specifications and customer requirements. You’ll use precision measuring equipment, engineering drawings and technical instructions to inspect products and verify quality. You’ll also be responsible for creating and maintaining accurate quality records, ensuring inspection information is captured and made available to support the wider business.

Core duties:

  • Provide Quality inspection support to production activities and ensure Quality Control requirements are consistently maintained
  • Carry out inspections using precision measuring equipment
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings and technical instructions
  • Create, maintain and store accurate Quality records
  • Support the identification and resolution of Quality issues
  • Work collaboratively with production teams and internal customers, while maintaining a strong customer focus throughout all activities
  • Demonstrate good organisational skills and manage inspection activities effectively

Essential Skills:

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Good customer focus and communication skills
  • Pipe manufacture experience within an internal manufacturing environment
  • Basic IT skills and the ability to maintain accurate records
  • Ability to understand and follow engineering drawings and technical instructions
  • Willingness to work shifts, including days and nights

The Quality Team:

The Internal Manufacturing Quality team consists of 17 inspectors across a shift system of days and nights. The team ultimately provide support to the facility ensuring Quality Control is maintained and deliverable Quality records are created and delivered to our records team. Support is provided to both the Astute and Dreadnought programmes and we will be getting ready to support SSNA in the future. There are opportunities for development within the team, you will be given the opportunity to enhance skills that support career growth.
