What You’ll Do
- Build and deliver features across the stack: working on both partner and customer journeys, backend services, and insurance/payment integrations.
- Act as the first technical contact during application incidents—whether caused by our services or partner systems—and maintain the dashboards, runbooks, and tools to resolve issues quickly.
- Ensure transactional accuracy for crucial flows (pricing, payment, policy issuance) with robust end-to-end testing.
- Support commercial deals: respond to technical questions from prospects, set up sandboxes, and assist with integrations.
- Own deliverables end-to-end: from design and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and ongoing iteration.
- Leverage AI-driven development tools (including coding agents), write clear specifications and tests, and review outputs with rigor.
- Shape the technical roadmap, making pragmatic trade-offs and driving up engineering standards through code reviews.
- AI-driven development: Claude Code and coding agents as standard tooling
- Ways of working: test-driven development by default (failing test first), architecture decision records, everything reviewed, shipped continuously
- Application: React, Vite, Tailwind, Node.js (TypeScript), Python
- Data stores: PostgreSQL, S3, NoSQL
- Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS, Terraform
- Observability: OpenTelemetry, with managed tracing and alerting on top
- Data & AI: Databricks, AWS Bedrock

- Proven experience building and shipping production systems using TypeScript and React, with confidence across the stack.
- Test-driven development practitioner, using TDD as a design and quality tool, building systems around domain models, not just database schemas.
- Demonstrated ownership of outcomes end-to-end, not just tickets—can show tangible results.
- Hands-on in incident response, comfortable handling support queries and resolving system issues independently.
- Daily practitioner of AI-driven development: familiar with coding agents, specifications, and iterative refinement.
- Experience managing AWS-based systems and interpreting production telemetry.
- Entrepreneurial and pragmatic: proactively picks up responsibilities, collaborates cross-functionally, and creates runbooks and documentation as needed.
- Disciplined about change management—especially where money, personal data, and compliance are concerned.
- Strong communicator, collaborative team player, and able to work directly with partners.
- Willingness to work from our Amsterdam office at least two days per week.
